Chase Mining intersects bonanza grade copper at Alotta Project

A new style of mineralisation and mineral assemblage previously unknown at Alotta within a feldspar porphyry intrusive has been identified.

Chase Mining Corporation Ltd - Chase Mining intersects bonanza grade copper at Alotta Prospect
Bonanza copper + palladium + platinum intersection

Chase Mining Corporation Ltd (ASX:CML) has received all assay results from its seven-hole October drilling program at the Alotta Project in Quebec, Canada

A spectacular ‘bonanza grade’ intersection of chalcopyrite - pyrrhotite massive sulphide assaying 22% copper + 34g/t palladium + 3.5g/t platinum and 0.78% nickel, 1.4% zinc, 65g/t silver was returned from Hole ZA-19-05.

This 0.5-metre intercept from 55.3 metres forms part of a wider 4.1-metre zone of mineralisation assaying 5.3% copper, 4.9 g/t palladium, 0.9 g/t platinum, 0.26% nickel and 12 g/t silver.

Importantly, this is a new style of mineralisation and mineral assemblage previously unknown at Alotta within a feldspar porphyry intrusive.

It is quite different from the usual nickel-copper-PGE-silver association of the nickel-copper massive sulphides and its recognition may indicate the discovery of additional high-grade potential at Alotta.

In addition to the highlight intersection above, significant high-grade massive sulphide nickel-copper intersections include:

  • ZA-19-04: 22.6 metres at 0.8% nickel. 1.2% copper, 4 g/t silver, and 1.0 g/t PGE from 49.0 metres, including 6 metres at 2.1% nickel. 2.9% copper, 10 g/t silver, and 2.4 g/t PGE from 49.0 metres;
  • ZA-19-05: 14.1 metres at 1.8% nickel. 3.2% copper, 7 g/t silver, and 3.6 g/t PGE from 55.3 metres, including 10 metres at 2.4% nickel. 2.4% copper, 5 g/t silver and 2.7 g/t PGE from 59.4 metres.

Alotta Project – drill hole location plan

The seven-hole drill program (705 metres) mainly targeted extensions to known mineralisation within the nickel-copper wireframe and a shallow downhole electromagnetic anomaly.

The drilling overall confirmed the continuity of the wide zones of mineralisation intersected by the maiden 2018 drill program plus it intersected a number of additional high-grade nickel-copper-PGE massive sulphide zones.

Chase will now spend time assessing these results and the importance of the bonanza grade intersection in hole ZA-19-05 to formulate a further drill program in early 2020.
