Musgrave Minerals Ltd's (ASX:MGV) joint venture partner Cyprium Metals Ltd (ASX:CYM) has started a three-phase reverse circulation drilling program targeting copper at the Eelya South prospect within the Cue project in Western Australia.
Following the recent approval of a program of work by the WA Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, the RC drilling program of 2,430 metres is being conducted as part of Cyprium’s strategy to increase its copper resource base.
As part of an earn-in and JV agreement between a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cyprium and Musgrave, an option has been granted by Musgrave for an 80% interest in the non-gold rights over the tenements at the Cue project.
Cyprium's executive director Barry Cahill said: “We are very pleased to commence drilling at the Eelya South prospect following the recent completion of a surface sampling program whereby high-grade copper samples were observed from a shear occurring at the surface for more than 500 metres in length.”
The Eelya South project is 5 kilometres to the south of the Hollandaire copper mineralisation where recent assays from an extensional program in September included up to up to 5 metres at 2.3% copper from 50 metres.
The outcropping of malachite mineralised felsic schist has been observed whilst conducting surface soil and rock chip sampling of the shear hosted mineralisation at the Eelya South prospect.
Cyprium believes the observed surface mineralisation at the Eelya South prospect and laboratory assay results of the rock chip samples are very encouraging.
The Eelya South surface rock chip sampling results include:
- 19.7% copper in surface sample ES13, including 0.9 g/t gold and 32.5 g/t silver;
- 14.5% in surface sample ES11, including 2.7 g/t and 14 g/t;
- 11.4% in surface sample ES15, including 0.7 g/t and 55.5 g/t; and
- 9.6% in surface sample ES12, including 4.1 g/t and 47.5 g/t.
Following completion of the initial Eelya South RC drilling program, an RC drilling program at the Rapier prospect will start together with the second phase of the Hollandaire RC drilling program.
The JV partners look forward to updating the market with assay results from the RC drilling programs at Cue as they become available.
