Whitebark Energy Ltd’s (ASX:WBE) is making progress drilling the Rex-3 well at its Wizard Lake Project in Canada.

Drilling commenced on 17 November 2019 and at the most recent update had reached 265 metres depth.

The well is targeting a zone of conventional Cretaceous Rex sands at around 1,405 metres depth before the well’s horizontal section will commence.

The total length of the well is expected to be 3,370 metres which includes a horizontal leg of around 1,800 metres.

Rex-3 is the third of a potential 20+ wells

Based on the experience and success of Rex-1 and Rex-2, Rex-3 will be fracture stimulated using 45, 35-tonne stages each focussed in turn through individual completion ports.

Drilling time is estimated to take a total of two weeks.

The Rex field has the potential for more than 20 follow up development wells.
