The new director brings to FAR more than 30 years of international oil and gas industry experience across many operating environments and regimes.
This includes 17 years with Shell International, as well as positions with other international companies in India and Brazil.
Oil Search executive
Most recently Julian was a senior executive with Oil Search Limited (ASX:OSH), leading the PNG operated and non-operated oil and LNG production and development businesses, with responsibility for about 2,000 staff and contractors.

He said, “Julian’s experience at a senior executive level within Oil Search, helping to grow the company from an exploration company to one of Australia’s premier oil companies will be invaluable to FAR as we aim to lever off the forthcoming production in Senegal to do the same.

Fowles was previously the executive leading Oil Search’s Exploration and New Business teams and was also involved in the development and implementation of that company’s opportunity development framework.
In this role, he was targeting major projects through key assurance processes from pre-concept to FID.
Fowles is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a BSc (Hons) degree from the University of Edinburgh and a PhD from the University of Cambridge.
He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment.
