Low interest rates are creating frustrations for most Australian investors, forcing them to look beyond the banks.
With the RBA again holding the official cash rate of interest at an all-time low of 1%, thousands of investors, including retirees, self-managed superannuation funds, companies and individuals, are left stranded.
Low interest rates take toll
Given that inflation is running at 1.6% per annum, these interest rates are taking their toll, providing investors with:
- Less retirement income to live off;
- Fewer family holidays;
- Reduced discretionary spending;
- Downsizing of the family home;
- Taking risks with volatile investments, such as the stock market; and
- In many instances financial duress.
As such, many are forced to look for alternatives to keep ahead financially and maintain their lifestyles otherwise they risk going backwards by doing nothing.
This situation has led to much-needed innovation within the financial services industry to fill the gaps left by the banks, both in terms of investment products and also deployment of capital.
One of these alternatives is Mayfair Platinum, a fixed income product and the latest offering from Mayfair 101, an international investment and corporate advisory group with offices in Melbourne, Sydney and London.
Qualified high net worth investors can access term-based investment options starting from $100,000 and ranging from three months to five years, with the option of monthly interest payments.
Complements IPO Wealth
Mayfair 101, which is also the parent company of the successful IPO Wealth fund, accepts investment from individuals, self-managed superannuation funds, companies and trusts.
The group’s founder and managing director James Mawhinney said Mayfair Platinum provided investors exclusive access to investment opportunities.
“These are often reserved for family offices, investment banks, stockbrokers, who generally get access to deals first and then take the best for themselves, which is a real problem in the industry.
“We are giving investors the opportunity to gain exposure to companies we are already significant shareholders in and which we have typically curated or developed the business over time.
“Our track record has proven that it is a solid investment opportunity for those that are seeking a higher yield.”
Mawhinney said that with interest rates appearing unlikely to increase for some time, Mayfair Platinum was focused on providing investors with certainty in relation to their capital and interest payments.
“We are big believers in creating win-win outcomes for our investors as we have considerable ‘skin in the game’ with each investment,” he added.
The Mayfair 101 team strategically selects businesses that banks generally won’t lend to due to their lending policies, and applies capital, management, finance, sales, marketing and operational expertise to deliver investor value.
