Element 25 uses innovative leach process to extract high-purity manganese

Manganese is a critical element in much of our modern lives. It is a key component of steelmaking and increasingly, demand for high purity manganese is coming from batteries and alkaline cells.

Element 25 (ASX: E25) is an Australian manganese producer with its Butcherbird deposit being the largest onshore manganese deposit in Australia.

The company has developed a process for extraction, in conjunction with the CSIRO, which helps to lower costs as well as energy consumption.

"They developed for us an innovative new leach process that is much more energy efficient, more environmentally friendly if you like than the traditional process" says the company's executive director Justin Brown.

The company is set to embark on its prefeasibilty study for the Butcherbird site.
