Active Energy boss upbeat on Ukrainian wood chip operation

Richard Spinks, the chief executive of Active Energy (LON:AEG), says the installation of a stationary chipper will bring great economies of scale and cost savings to the firm’s wood chip business in Ukraine.

The chipper will be capable of quadrupling capacity at its facilities at Yuzhny Port; although it won’t be fully operational until late August, Active told investors today.

“We’re putting in one thousand tonnes of concrete in at the moment – this is a big machine,” said Spinks.

Volumes from the hardwood chip operation are still set to grow more than 100% on the 154,103 tonnes achieved in 2014.
