Solo Oil chairman expects smooth transition into production at Horse Hill discovery

Neil Ritson, chairman of Solo Oil (LON:SOLO), says he sees no reason why the shallower Portland play at the Horse Hill oil discovery near Gatwick Airport can’t move smoothly into production.

UK-based energy consultant Xodus Group conducted a review of the conventional Upper Portland Sandstone reservoir and estimated it contains 21mln barrels of mean stock tank oil initially in place (STOIIP). This estimate is slightly larger than the prior internal assessment made by AIM-quoted UK Oil & Gas Investments, whose stake in the project is just over 20%.

As for the deeper Kimmeridge play, Ritson warns that it is too early to speculate on volumes and timing of possible production.
