Newrange is on the hunt for gold in Nevada

Newrange Gold Corp (CVE:NRG) (OTCMKTS:NRGOF) updated on drilling results from the Pamlico gold project in Nevada, USA and said it would continue with reverse circulation (RC) drilling as its main method for future drilling work.

Four large diameter diamond core holes were sunk to compare the advantages and disadvantages with the reverse circulation (RC) drilling so far used, the resource group said. All assays have now been received.

"The four-hole test program was successful in comparing core and RC drilling methods," said Robert Archer, CEO at Newrange.

He said the geological information obtained has improved the firm's understanding of the controls and distribution of high- and low-grade gold mineralization observed in the RC drilling.

"While the highly fractured nature of the mineralized zones and variable core recoveries made it difficult to make direct comparisons of higher gold assays between the two drilling methods, it is also possible that the differences observed are simply due to an inherent variability in the mineralization itself. From this small test program there is no obvious conclusion that the RC drilling was under-reporting gold sample grades. Furthermore, the results emphasize the importance of the planned 1,000 ton bulk sample as a larger sample will be much more representative."

Surveying and mapping

Newrange is now continuing with the underground surveying, mapping and sampling program on the more than 8,000 metres of historic mine workings in the Pamlico Ridge area.

Only about one thirtieth of the area covered by the old mines has been drill-tested and the information will be an important part of planning upcoming drilling programs, the group said.
