Barra Resources Limited (ASX:BAR) has completed first-pass drilling at the Truth target of its Phillips Find Gold Project in WA, intersecting broad zones of low-level gold anomalism.
The 388-hole aircore drilling program at the project near Coolgardie was designed to be a broad-spaced first pass test of the 6x1.5-kilometre Truth target area.
Best results are:
- 20 metres at 0.90 g/t gold from surface including 4 metres at 4.40 g/t;
- 29 metres at 0.49 g/t from 4 metres including 4 metres at 2.95 g/t;
- 26 metres at 0.30 g/t from 52 metres; and
- 33 metres at 0.10 g/t from surface.
33,000 ounces produced
Several trends were defined parallel to the weathered bedrock structure along the strike extension of the Phillips Find Mine Sequence geology.
This sequence hosts three open-pit mines at the Phillips Find Mining Centre (PPFMC), which has produced a combined 33,000 ounces of gold to date.
Anomalism “exceeds expectations”
Barra’s managing director and CEO Sean Gregory said: “Barra is pleased to finally lift the veil on the under-cover potential of the Truth prospect at Phillips Find.
“As with much of the WA goldfields, the best prospects for future gold discoveries are under cover and the best way to test them is with the drill bit.
“The broad gold anomalism intercepted has exceeded our expectations and we look forward to following up with ongoing gold exploration programs in 2019.”
Programs targeting mineralised structures
Following further interpretation of pending multi-element end of hole drill chip samples, aircore drill programs will be designed later this year to infill around prioritised targets along with deeper RC holes targeting mineralised structures at depth.
