The Andritz turbines have recommenced generation at full capacity, SIMEC Atlantis said.

The offshore operations involved some ground-breaking achievements that will have material cost reduction implications for future scheduled and unscheduled offshore maintenance work.

The retrieved Atlantis 1.5MW turbine will now be returned to the Atlantis operations base at Nigg Energy Park in Scotland for servicing before being returned to service during the December tidal window when the third Andritz turbine will also be redeployed following completion of its inspection and maintenance programme.

In a separate announcement, the company revealed the appointment of Andy Richardson as the chief operating officer.

Richardson has previously held roles as head of asset management and engineering manager at Alstom Power Service UK and director of thermal generation (4 GW Generation) at EDF.
