Leading Edge Materials Corp (CVE:LEM, OTCQB:LEMIF) revealed that its graphene ambitions have been bolstered - as it has signed a non-binding letter of intent to form a joint venture with private Swedish company Graphmatech AB.

The venture will produce graphene at Leading Edge Material's Woxna graphite mine in  Sweden.

"Woxna, one of Europe's few fully built and permitted graphite mines, is remarkably close to our research base in Uppsala," noted Mamoun Taher, the chief executive and co-founder of Graphmatech.

"The proposed Graphmatech – Leading Edge Materials Joint Venture will construct a commercial graphite to graphene facility and provide Graphmatech with the secure, sustainable, competitively priced graphene supply we will need for our business in commercial graphene-containing products."

Graphmatech is the company behind Aros Graphene, which prevents the agglomeration of graphene flakes.

Significantly, Aros Graphene can, therefore, be mixed into metals, polymers and fluids without the loss of graphene's thermal, mechanical and electrical properties.

Graphene is forecast to revolutionise materials engineering as well as the power and electronics sectors, but industrial adoption has been slow due to problems caused by agglomeration.

Graphmatech's Aros Graphene technology has resolved this issue.

It is produced by removing a single flake from graphite, and it is the strongest material known, has extremely high electrical and thermal conductivity. It is also ultra-lightweight and transparent.
