Cannabis-focused Valens GroWorks Corporation(CSE:VGW) unveiled a raft of boardroom changes on Wednesday, sending shares surging
Chris Irwin, Nitin Kaushal, Ashley McGrath and Chris Buysen have all joined as directors. Meanwhile, John Cullen has resigned as a director and Dr Robert O'Brien has also resigned as a director and chief science officer.
Irwin is a partner in the Toronto law firm of Irwin Lowy and is focused on securities and corporate/commercial law. Kaushal serves as managing director, corporate finance, at PwC Canada. He has over 30 years' of finance and investment expertise. McGrath has been involved in real estate development for 14 years as the president and owner of Glencoe Developments Inc. Buysen has held numerous senior financial positions over the past 15 years including his current role as chief financial officer of Valens.
"Given the company's aggressive vertically integrated expansion plans, both domestically and internationally, it was a top priority to strengthen our board of directors to support these initiatives," said Tyler Robson, Valens's chief executive.
Shares in Toronto added almost 12% to stand at C$1.62.
