Work is expected to start immediately on updated reports for block 2A in Wajir, Kenya, Simba Essel Energy Inc (CVE:SMB), the oil junior, told investors on Thursday.

Its partner Essel Group Middle East has hired Sproule International to complete 2-D seismic interpretation services, a prospective resource estimate and an updated National Instrument 51-101.

Sproule is familiar with East Africa rift systems and has already interpreted all available seismic and well data in the region surrounding block 2A.

"By using advanced geophysical software to integrate Simba's new 2-D seismic acquisition, along with Simba's full tensor gravity (FTG) data and passive seismic data, and other historical data, Sproule will build upon the existing 2-D seismic interpretation project with the additional new data," the group said.

Sproule will update the block 2A interpretation study it conducted in May, 2012.

Also included will be around 535 kilometres of new 2-D seismic data recently acquired.

Simba has active onshore production-sharing contract (PSC) in Kenya and is in final negotiations for a new PSC in Guinea.

It also holds a new hydrocarbon reconnaissance permit in Liberia and PSCs under negotiations in Chad and Ghana.

Simba is focused on onshore oil and gas potential in areas that are underdeveloped or not previously exploited.
