South American Ferro Metals (ASX: SFZ) production levels have hit 125,000 ROM tonnes per month at the company's flagship Ponto Verde iron ore project in Brazil.
This equates to annual production of 1.5 million ROM tonnes per year - which is equiValent to the mining license.
What is so important about the ramp-up in production is that it comes four month ahead of schedule, with the milestone previously targeted for the end of 2011.
The company said that forward mine planning and pre-stripping facilitated the ahead of schedule delivery.
About Ponto Verde
South American Ferro Metals wholly owns the mineral and property rights of the project, which is located in the heart of the Iron Ore Quadrilateral in Brazil – which is a prolific iron ore mining area.
Importantly, the company's operations are in close proximity to established mining operations such as Vale (NYSE: VALE) and Gerdau (NYSE: GGB), which includes iron and steel plants and existing infrastructure.
