Exploration and mineral property investment company, Red Rock Resources Plc (AIM: RRR) reported that investee company Jupiter Mines Ltd (ASX: JMS) announced high grade sampling results from its Oakover manganese project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. According to Jupiter, the results indicate significant potential for a major manganese prospect.

The AIM resource investment company owns a 25.2% stake in the Australian metals exploration company.

Jupiter’s Oakover manganese project totals 890km2 covering four granted exploration licences and one application in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia. The project area surrounds the historical Ripon Hills mine area, and lies 60km to the north of the operating Woodie Woodie mine, which has current production of over 900,000 tonnes of manganese ore per annum at an average grade of over 48%.

A total of 47 rock chip samples were taken from anomalous areas, identified from previous satellite mapping interpretations. Overall assays ranged between 5.5% and 62.6% manganese. The 26 samples taken from the two priority exploration areas, averaged 39.1% manganese.

In the announcement, Jupiter CEO Greg Durack said that Oakover has become the company’s key manganese focus and the ASX listed explorer intends to advance the project significantly over the next year.
