Australian Pacific Coal completes drilling at Cooroorah


Australian Pacific Coal (AQC) has completed drilling at its EPC1827 Cooroorah project in Queensland, fulfilling the requirements for the grant of MDL453 application.

It will also obtain additional coal quality data from the drilling that could enable in the preparation of the pre-feasibility study for the project.

Drilling of the four proposed sites at Cooroorah has been completed for a combined total of 2,028.63 metres including 530.56 metres of HQ core.

Geophysical logging and site rehabilitation are to be completed.

The drilling also successfully intersected all target seams at each of the proposed sites with the main seams including the Castor, Pollux and Pisces averaging 3.40 metres, 2.38 metres and 2.72 metres thickness respectively between the four holes.

Early stage coal quality data supports previous interpretations of PCI coal product with potential for significant coking coal fraction in the upper and middle seams.

Coal quality analysis is ongoing and expected to be completed by the end of second quarter.

The current resource estimate presents 54.9 million tonnes of indicated and 51.6 million tonnes of inferred resource respectively, for a combined total of 106.5Mt of coal resource within the southern half of the tenement.

The Cooroorah project is located in the Blackwater coal hub of Queensland, where there are many producing mines, and has excellent access to infrastructure.
