Touchscreen and flexible electronics protective films maker UniPixel, Inc. (NASDAQ:UNXL), has inked a deal to supply two of its technologies to a leading PC manufacturing customer.
The deal is for 2-in-1 convertible computers, which combine the best features of a laptop and a tablet in one device, with the company using its XTouch sensitive touchscreen sensors and Diamond Guard hardcoat technology.
Production for the two programs is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2016 and first quarter of 2017, respectively.
Jeff Hawthorne, president and chief executive officer of UniPixel, said: “We are pleased with the two design wins from this existing customer.
“Further orders from existing customers are an affirmation that not only does our technology resonate with customers, but our response time and service levels meet their requirements.”
The XTouch is a copper metal mesh touch sensor product, which he says is gaining share in the market as an alternative to traditional ITO sensors.
Hawthorne adds that by adding the Diamond Guard hardcoat, the customer “will be able to produce two new devices that are lighter, thinner, and faster with exceptional stylus performance.”
