Virus detection specialist PositiveID Corporation (OCTMKTS:PSID) said concerns over the Zika virus hitting the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil are mounting.

Currently no drug is available to combat Zika, so researchers are focusing on other methods of prevention and early detection.

It noted that its Firefly Dx product, currently in development at the PSID labs, is designed to analyze and detect a wide array of pathogens on an as needed basis in less than 30 minutes out in the field.

Primary uses include detection of dengue fever, SARS, Ebola, influenza, agricultural disease, but it can also be adapted for Zika.

PSID also has an M-BAND product, which autonomously analyzes the air for weaponized pathogens such as Anthrax.
