Memex Automation (CVE:OEE) said that it recorded a total of 61 customer orders during its fiscal first quarter for its hardware and software system designed to improve manufacturers' productivity.
Its partner distributors that placed orders for its products included Mazak --- whose customers include Lockeed Martin, Raymond Corp, Oilgear, and other Fortune 500s --- and Newman M2M, which provided orders for GE Power and Energy in South Carolina.
The company also received orders from CNC Soluciones, Memex's partner in Mexico that placed orders for 19 of its 160 machines from Frisa Aerospace, and Pinnacle Machine Tool, which provided orders for Roadtec in Tennessee and Fort Walton Machining in Florida.
In addition, FA Consulting and Technology booked an order for GE Aviation during the latest period ending December 31, 2014.
The company's MERLIN product is aimed at driving manufacturing efficiencies, enabling shop floors to communicate with management in real-time. Short for Manufacturing Execution Real-Time Lean Information Network, MERLIN is designed to boost shop floor productivity, increase income from operations and reduce operating costs.
The product is a full suite of hardware and software, with the hardware adapters turning each manufacturer’s machine into a web server, while the software measures plant capacity and its utilization. Customers can address production bottlenecks as they happen, convert idle time back into production and ultimately improve throughput.
"[Our company] is very pleased with the amount of orders coming in for the MERLIN OEE machine monitoring solution, especially the increase in activity from our Partner Distribution Channels," said chief operating officer Rick Mosca.
"Partners are responding to the elevated interest in machine monitoring coming from the manufacturing community. Customers who have done their research have concluded that MERLIN OEE is the best enterprise solution on the market.
"Our Partner Distribution Channel is very busy and we are excited by the surge in activity."
Memex has also received additional orders from Cortec Fluid Control of Louisiana, Quebec-based Heroux-Devtek, which extended its license to all machines in the Laval plant, Aerofit in California and Beckwood Press in Missouri.
The company said Beckwood has ordered MERLIN to install on an initial machine, as it moves towards offering the feature across all of its machine presses. Earlier this week, Memex also announced an order from Domino Machine in Edmonton, Canada, totaling nearly $130,000.
Memex says MERLIN can increase machine utilization by an average of 10 to 50 percent, with plants using the product able to improve output by more than 10 percent and related income from operations by as much as 60 percent.
