Canadian dollar hurts Western Canadian Coal

Western Canadian Coal (AIM & TSX: WTN) fell 18.5% after stating that is would not meet shareholders expectations for the current financial year.

The coking coal mining company with operations in British Columbia, Canada, said the appreciation of the Canadian Dollar against the US Dollar in particular had impacted revenues.

The company also had some operational problems at the mine, and favourable terms to secure off take agreements with steel makers had meant a lower selling price for its product initially.
