Aminex supports local community initiatives where possible. It is a supporter of WA Surgical Mission Tanzania (www.asanterafiki.com) and Australia Tanzania Young Ambassadors (www.youngambassadors.com.au). Aminex also contributes to community projects, such as schools and hospitals.

Production Focus (Kiliwani North Development Licence)

  • Licence expires 2036 with no further commitments
  • The company is preparing for a low cost remediation of the Kiliwani North-1 well in order to restart production
  • Existing gas sales agreement and gas plant with capacity to tie in any new wells

Exploration Focus (Nyuni Area PSA)

  • Company focussed on structural and stratigraphic targets in shallow water close to existing infrastructure
  • Multi TCF resources have been identified and the area is adjacent to large and significant producing gas fields
  • Potential to combine seismic programmes with Kiliwani North in order to spread costs between programmes

John Bell


John Bell is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years’ experience in the energy sector having worked at Vice President or Managing Director level at BP, Statoil AS and Suncor Energy (Syria). He has spent a large part of his career in the Middle East, as well as time in North Africa, FSU, the Americas, the UK North Sea, Scandinavia and the Caribbean. Mr Bell has a First Class Honours Degree in Engineering from Strathclyde University in Scotland and studied Executive Leadership at Haas Business School, University of Berkeley California. Previous public company directorships include Gulfkeystone Petroleum, Tethys Petroleum and he is currently Managing Director of Gulfsands Petroleum.


Robert Ambrose

Executive Director

Robert Ambrose was formerly the Chief Operating Officer of The Zubair Corporation’s Energy & Logistics Division. He has a Petroleum Engineering Masters from Imperial College, London, and a Mechanical Engineering Honours Degree from Brunel University in the UK. He has over 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, from downstream to upstream, covering many aspects of the supply chain and has experience in and held senior management roles involving the reservoir, well construction and production both onshore & offshore. He was appointed a non-executive director of Aminex in September 2019 and interim Chief Executive Officer in April 2020.


Linda Beal

Non-executive Director

Linda Beal is a Chartered Accountant and has over 30 years’ experience with PwC including over 16 years as partner, during which time she led services to various international resources groups and advised on many transactions. Linda was also a partner at Grant Thornton for two years, where she led the global energy and natural resources group, with a significant focus on Africa. Linda is currently a non-executive director and Audit and Risk Committee Chair at Kropz plc, a non-executive director and Audit Committee Chair at San Leon Energy plc, a non-executive director and chair of the Audit Committee and Strategy Committee at Orca Exploration Group Inc and a non-executive director at i3 Energy PLC.


Harald van Dongen

Non-executive Director

Harald van Dongen is currently Value Assurance Manager of ARA Petroleum LLC. He is a Dutch national and has been active in the international oil and gas industry since 1995. His career started with Shell International holding various subsurface positions and continued with Total SA in a business development role covering the Far East. Before joining ARA in 2014 he worked as an Asset Development Manager for OMV Petrom and Tulip Oil. At ARA, Harald is responsible for upstream M&A, economic, financial portfolio and performance management. He holds a MSc in Applied Physics and an MBA in Financial Risk Management.


Jan Gunnar Opsal

Non-executive Director

Jan Gunnar Opsal is currently the General Manager of ARA Norway Invest, an associate company of The Zubair Corporation, which focusses on investing in innovative petroleum technology. He is also founder and Chief Executive Officer of Searcher Geoservices in Norway. He has a MSc in Geophysics and has over 20 years’ experience in the international oil and gas industry, during which time he has worked for Equinor, Det norske oljeselskap and Weatherford. He was a Board Member of Det norske oljeselskap (now Aker BP) at the time of its IPO on the Oslo Stock Exchange.
