<![CDATA[News - Uranex intersects large graphite zones at Nachu ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/157965/uranex-intersects-large-graphite-zones-at-nachu-56501.html Uranex (ASX:UNX) has intersected wide zones of graphite at its Nachu Graphite Project in Tanzania with mineralisation beginning at or near surface.

Notably, the NARC057 drill hole contains over 140 metres of graphitic mineralisation, highlighting the value of the project.

It also supports the company signing earlier this month a Memorandum of Understanding for state-owned China National Materials Industry Import and Export Corporation to offtake 100,000 tonnes of graphite per annum for five years.

This includes an option to extend for a further five years.

Significant graphitic mineralisation has been intersected in all holes drilled to date with graphite confirmed at depths beyond 220 metres.

A 150 line kilometre electromagnetic survey is nearing completion with initial results correlating well with previous studies and identified drill targets.

Two rigs are currently drilling holes for the current program, which will allow the company to declare a maiden JORC Resource by November this year. A third rig will arrive in the near future.

Drilling will include both reverse circulation and diamond drilling and will include deeper hole analysis to confirm graphitic mineralisation at depth using closer spaced holes in accordance to JORC requirements.

Uranex had earlier this month signed a Memorandum of Understanding for state-owned China National Materials Industry Import and Export Corporation to offtake 100,000 tonnes of graphite per annum for five years with an option to extend for a further 5 years.

<![CDATA[News - Uranex Limited to provide offtake update ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/157963/uranex-limited-to-provide-offtake-update-56223.html Uranex Limited (ASX:UNX) has been granted an ASX trading halt pending release of an announcement relating to a Memorandum of Understanding regarding offtake.

The company had last month raised $5 million through a placement of 31.25 million shares at $0.16 each to advance its Nachu Graphite Project in Tanzania.

Shares in the company are currently trading at $0.19.

It also commenced an electro-magnetic survey as well as a 8,000 metre reverse circulation program.

Drilling will explore the possibility of deeper extension to the current known mineralisation blocks and to provide sufficient information so that higher grade zones can be converted into a JORC Resource.

Diamond drilling will commence during July and will be used to both provide further geological information for JORC Resource calculations and also provide core to be used in further metallurgical test work.

Uranex expects to deliver a Resource estimate by November this year.

Testwork had produced a graphite concentrate of 99.4% total graphitic carbon using a caustic bake process on a sample of D block flotation concentrate.

The project also has large flake size and a resource that is close to surface.

Assays from reverse circulation drilling have confirmed previous visual assessments of graphitic mineralisation in all 9 blocks identified via electromagnetics, and mineralisation begins at or near surface in the majority of holes drilled.

Results included 23 metres at 10.4% graphite from 3 metres, with 11 metres at 15.3% graphite.

Composite samples were also tested for multi-element levels, with results due in the next few weeks.

The diamond drilling program was designed to provide representative core samples to initiate metallurgical test work and graphite flake size analysis.

Graphitic content at depth was tested, with one of the diamond holes ending in mineralisation at 96 metres.

The metallurgical and flake size analysis will commence shortly, with samples currently in transit to a laboratory in Australia.

So there is plenty of near term news flow to keep investors interested until next phase exploration kicks off at the higher priority blocks, and with graphite being the current 'it' metal.

<![CDATA[News - Uranex intersects graphitic mineralisation from trenching at Nachu in Tanzania ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/157932/uranex-intersects-graphitic-mineralisation-from-trenching-at-nachu-in-tanzania-45766.html Uranex (ASX: UNX) has intersected 977 metres of graphitic mineralisation at the first trench in the southern part of its wholly-owned Nachu Project in Tanzania.

Nachu is located within the Usagaran Proterozoic system which principally comprises high grade metamorphic rocks. This system is well known for hosting high grade coarse graphite flakes.

The project is located 40 kilometres south of Syrah Resources’ (ASX: SYR) Nachingwea tenement that has been reported to contain zones or bands with over 20% graphite and is west of the coastal city of Lindi.

Graphitic mineralisation was also intersected in the next two trenches with total lengths of 274.4 metres and 437.9 metres.

Pitting work is being carried out on two of the trenches to test selected positions where mineralisation needs to be probed at greater depth.

Until analytical results are received, visual observations are being made by the geologists, while logging the trenches, of the estimated grade and flake size in the mineralised zones.

This will guide the company on how the remaining planned trenches will be scheduled.

The eastern part of the first trench was extended to test the area where an outcrop sample assayed 54% graphitic carbon.

In this extension, graphite mineralisation was found to be present along the entire length of the trench and the company believes that large graphite flakes are present at an elevated concentration.

However, geologists have not yet found any continuous area where the very high grade sample may have originated.

This area is currently being reviewed and it is anticipated that the trench will be extended further to the east.

Uranex has sent 251 samples from this trench to the laboratory where they are being processed.

The second trench was designed to test an area in the south west of the tenement where some outcropping graphitic mineralisation and a narrow high grade zone was discovered during exploration in May 2013.

No similar occurrences of the high grade zone were found in the trench, though it did identify 274.4 metres of graphitic mineralisation from a total trench length of 436 metres.

The final trench recorded a total length of 437.9 metres of graphitic mineralisation from the total trench length of 1,006 metres.

Significant sections of this trench were characterised by soil depths to the full depth of the trench. These areas will be tested with some in-trench pits to determine whether there is any mineralisation below the soils.

Nachu has the potential and prospectivity to host a graphite resource, with up to 19 kilometres of strike length, while its relatively flat lying dip of 20 degrees to the south-west indicates that it could be a relatively easy mining operation.

<![CDATA[News - Uranex begins new phase of highly anticipated exploration at Tanzania Nachu graphite project ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/157931/uranex-begins-new-phase-of-highly-anticipated-exploration-at-tanzania-nachu-graphite-project-44766.html Uranex (ASX: UNX) has started next phase of exploration at its wholly-owned Nachu graphite project in Tanzania near where a sample was discovered with a 54.7% graphitic carbon content was from outcrop samples in June.

The trench T1 will be extended to intersect this area. The trenching will test the width of mineralisation across the interpreted strike.

Promisingly, wide intersections of up to 136 metres of graphitic schists have been observed in the first trench in the southern part of the tenement, which is still underway.

This is planned to be 1,200 metres in length so that the geology can be assessed across an area where there are known graphite outcrops.

Trenches will be deepened at selected positions where mineralisation needs to be probed at greater depth. The frequency of these in-trench pits will be determined by the lithology that is mapped along the trench trajectory.

An extensive sampling program will be undertaken during the trenching. Due to the quantity of samples it may take several weeks from completion of the final trench to announce all the results.

The sampling program will also ensure that sufficient material is available to do comprehensive metallurgical tests to determine the optimum final product/s to be produced from this resource.

Uranex said earlier in June that a substantial area of high grade outcrops is showing in the northern half of the tenement with results ranging between 13.3% and 19.7% Cg.

Nachu has the potential and prospectivity to host a graphite resource, with up to 19 kilometres of strike length, and looking further ahead there is also a relatively flat lying dip of 20 degrees to the south-west - which could indicate a relatively easy mining operation.

Uranex said that a medium to coarse flake size had been observed by the geologists.

<![CDATA[News - Uranex Limited finds new graphite zone in Tanzania ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/157929/uranex-limited-finds-new-graphite-zone-in-tanzania-44098.html Uranex Limited (ASX:UNX) has discovered a new graphite zone from a recent survey in at the Nachu Tenement in South East Tanzania, 40 kilometres from Syrah's Nachingwea graphite deposit.

During the recent survey, several new outcrops of graphitic schists were identified, including a narrow seam of what appears to be high grade graphite.

This discovery is in the south west of the tenement, where the graphitic content is visibly significantly higher than other
outcrops across the tenement where previous assays have shown graphitic carbon content up to 13.95 % Cg.

Upcoming trenching and analysis of representative samples will establish the grades accurately of this new discovery.

Visual examination alone suggests that the new SW zone is of a significantly higher grade than all previous discoveries on the tenement.

Two outcrops were found in this area and exploration pits to 1.5 metres depth were dug on each of them.

Next phase of exploration

The next phase of exploration on this tenement will begin on 10 June 2013 with the commencement of a pitting and trenching programme.

The aim of the programme will be to confirm initially the width of the mineralised zones in the various areas and provide representative samples for analysis.

Composite samples of the various areas will also be taken for metallurgical investigation.

The initial series of trenches will be dug at approximately 2 kilometre intervals. Infill trenching will then be focused on the most prospective areas.

It has been estimated that this initial programme of work will take approximately 8 weeks.

<![CDATA[News - Uranex Limited makes new Tanzania coal discovery ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/157928/uranex-limited-makes-new-tanzania-coal-discovery-39739.html Uranex Limited (ASX: UNX) has discovered a new coal deposit in southeast Tanzanian while carrying out its regional exploration program during the last six months of 2012.

Initial results indicate high quality thermal coal with samples being assessed for coking coal properties.

The sub outcrop of coal was discovered by ground based surveys about 90 kilometres from the coastal city of Lindi and about 160 kilometres from the Port of Mtwara.

This places the discovery at a significant infrastructure advantage over the better known south western coalfields that are about 700 kilometres from the coast.

Further exploration will be required to assess the discovery.

<![CDATA[News - Uranex Limited discovers graphite in Northern Tanzania ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/157927/uranex-limited-discovers-graphite-in-northern-tanzania-37162.html Uranex Limited (ASX: UNX) has unearthed a graphite discovery with a large fraction of flake graphite exceeding 1 centimetre in length in Northern Tanzania.

The location of the outcropping graphite occurrence is in the centre of a consistent trend of a metamorphic rock sequence outcropping for 3 kilometres.

Uranex said that the schists do not outcrop along this entire strike length due to its high erodability, and added that since the more resistant rock units do outcrop, then there is potential that the trend of schist does as well.

The analytical results from the submitted samples are still pending, which will then provide additional information for a follow-up exploration program to be developed.

Discovery team

This graphite occurrence was discovered by the Uranex geology team, who recently undertook exploration on the tenement, including dry stream sampling, as part of the regional exploration program being conducted across all Uranex tenements in Tanzania.

Uranex has also identified other indications of mineralisation at the company's tenements in the country, with targets now identified for uranium, coal, graphite, gold and base metals.

<![CDATA[News - Uranex’s Songea Coal Project in Tanzania attracts potential JV partners ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/157925/uranexs-songea-coal-project-in-tanzania-attracts-potential-jv-partners-30359.html Uranex (ASX: UNX) is in discussions with a number of potential joint venture partners for its Songea Coal Project in Tanzania, a strategic move which could unlock the potential of the coalfield.

The company today confirmed it has received a number of unsolicited proposals from potential joint venture partners to participate in the 2012 exploration program at Songea.

Bringing a joint venture partner into the project will also allow Uranex to maintain focus during 2012 on its Mkuju Uranium Project.

The Songea Coal project covers a total area of 2,606 square kilometres in the Ruhuhu Basin that contains 11 recognised coalfields.

The three largest coalfields, known as Ketewaka, Mchuchuma and Ngaka, occur in a similar geological setting and lie within 50 kilometres of the Lumecha Coalfield.

A recent US$3 billion agreement between the Tanzanian Government and China’s Sichuan Hongda will see the development and mining of the adjacent Mchuchuma Coalfield, representing the single largest investment in Tanzania.

The coalfields are adjacent to a planned infrastructure project including rail, road, power and port for domestic and export markets.

Uranex is currently undertaking geophysical down hole logging of the five drill holes completed in 2011 where coal intersections were identified.

A review of the basin by consultants to target areas most likely to host near surface coal is also in progress.

<![CDATA[News - Uranex intercepts up to 2 metres at 786ppm uranium at Likuyu North ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/157923/uranex-intercepts-up-to-2-metres-at-786ppm-uranium-at-likuyu-north-22925.html Uranex (ASX: UNX) has expanded the mineralised zone at the Likuyu North prospect, within the company’s Mkuju Uranium Project in southern Tanzania, after completing the 2011 drilling program.

The recently completed drilling program comprised 213 air core drill holes and 8 diamond drill holes, and has expanded the mineralised zone at Likuyu North to about 2.6 kilometres.

Results include intersections that expand the existing east and west mineralised zones, which will form the basis of an initial JORC Resource by CSA Global, expected in the March quarter of 2012.

Significant intercepts include:

- 2 metres at 786 parts per million uranium from 80 metres;
- 2 metres at 608 parts per million uranium from 53 metres; and
- 2 metres at 450 parts per million uranium from 59 metres.

Samples from the drill holes have been collected for laboratory assaying as well as mineralogical and metallurgical studies.

New target zones, distant from the existing 5 kilometre by 1 kilometre radiometric anomaly have been identified, and will form the basis of a resource expansion program that is planned for the 2012 field season.

A helicopter borne geophysical survey comprising radiometric and magnetic components, planned to delineate geological structures that control mineralisation at Mkuju, has been postponed until the June quarter of 2012 due to the onset of the wet season.

The third and fourth holes in Uranex’s maiden 20 hole reverse circulation and diamond drilling program have intersected several coal seams, returning visual coal intercepts.

These results support the interpretation of a down dip extension of outcropping coal identified near the licence boundary.

The current 4,000 metre drill program is expected to be completed by late November. Reverse circulation chip samples will be sent to Johannesburg for analysis, with results expected in December 2011.

Following the reverse circulation stage of the drilling program, a diamond hole will be completed to obtain high quality samples for a comprehensive suite of coal analyses in Brisbane.

Results from this are expected to be available in January 2012.

Uranex’s drilling program has been designed to explore the extent and quality of coal present, while geophysical probing of holes will investigate the geometry and coal seam thickness.

The company’s Songea Coal Project covers 2,600 square kilometres in the prospective Ruhuhu Basin, which hosts 11 recognised coalfields and more than 1 billion tonnes of coal.

The most significant coalfields in the Ruhuhu Basin are the 290 million tonne Ketewaka coalfield, the 514 million tonne Mchuchuma coalfield and the 250 million tonne Ngaka coalfield, which occur in a similar geological setting and within 50 kilometres of Lumecha.

This bodes well for the Songea Coal project in Southern Tanzania, which is hosted within the coal field that has been interpreted to extend to over 250 square kilometres.

The reverse circulation and diamond drill program is designed to understand the extent and quality of coal present, while geophysical probing of holes is planned to understand and confirm the geometry and coal seam thicknesses.

The result from the first hole has confirmed an interpreted down dip extension of outcropping coal identified near the licence boundary.

A recent US$3 billion agreement between the Tanzania Government and China’s Sichuan Hongda will see the development and mining of the adjacent Mchuchuma Coalfield.

The Songea Coal Project covers a total area of 2,606 square kilometres in the Ruhuhu Basin, which contains 11 recognised coalfields.

To date, 179 air core holes of a planned 270-hole program have been drilled, expanding the mineralised area along strike of the existing 5 kilometre by 1 kilometre zone.

Significant intersections from the latest holes include 4 metres at 1,075 parts per million (ppm) equivalent uranium, 7 metres at 514ppm equivalent uranium and 14 metres at 382ppm equivalent uranium.

Importantly, a series of exploration holes has identified an additional new uranium zone of mineralisation, covering 900m X 400m, distinct from the existing radiometric anomaly.

Uranex is also undertaking diamond drilling on the site, with 24 holes to be completed. Samples will be collected for laboratory assaying, mineralogical and metallurgical studies.

A geophysical survey designed to define the geological structures that control mineralisation within the Mkuju Uranium Project is planned for November 2011.

Uranex is undertaking a Share Purchase Plan to raise up to $3 million for funding resource drilling and Feasibility Studies at Mkuju.

The Share Purchase Plan was initially due to close on October 21, but has been extended to November 4, 2011.

The capital raising will involve the placement of 4,793,715 shares at $0.35 per share to sophisticated and institutional investors to raise $1,677,800 before transaction costs.

Shareholders can also participate in the Uranex share purchase plan to raise approximately $3 million at the same price.

IMX Resources (ASX:IXR) is a major shareholder of Uranex with a 26% stake. Recently, it announced a proposal to distribute the shareholding in Uranex to its shareholders at a rate of 1 Uranex share per 5.67 IMX shares owned.

Uranex is due to begin a 3000 metre drilling program at its 100%-owned Songea project, which is located in the richly endowed Ruhuhu Basin.

The Ruhuhu Basin is well known for large tonnages of high quality thermal coal, including the substantial Ketewaka, Mchuchuma and Ngaka coalfields, with published resources exceeding 1 billion tonnes.

At the Mkuju project, Uranex has had good results, with high grade uranium intersections from its initial drilling program in May.

The results represented a major uranium discovery at the Likuyu North prospect within Mkuju, with highlights including 68 metres at 1,094 parts per million uranium from 31 metres.

Mkuju covers 5,000 square kilometres and is adjacent to Mantra Resources’ (ASX: MRU, TSX: MRL) Mkuju River Project, which has a mineral resource of 101.4 million pounds at 422ppm uranium within the Nyota Project located 30 kilometres northeast of Mkuju.

The share purchase plan entitles eligible shareholders to purchase up to $15,000 worth of shares in the company at $0.35 per share. The record date for participation is September 28, 2011.

The placement and share purchase plan, together with the recent sale of Australian uranium assets, will ensure the company is in a strong cash position of about $26 million.

This sets the company up well during the current volatile macro-economic conditions.

It is the first primary mineralisation drilled with a thickness of at least 10m at >1,000ppm.

Importantly, the presence of the primary uranium mineralisation has been identified on-site to be uraninite, which can be found at Paladin Energy's (ASX: PDN) nearby Kayelekera Mine in Malawi.

The current drilling program will be concluded in mid-December.

An airborne geophysics program is planned for early 2011 to assist with next year's drilling programs, scheduled to commence in February.

Likuyu North, part of Uranex's 100% owned Mkuju Uranium project, is located next to Mantra Resources’ (ASX: MRU) Mkuju River Project, where a mineral resource of 101.4 million pounds @ 422ppm U3O8 has been defined at the Nyota prospect.

<![CDATA[News - Uranex starts drilling at Bremer Basin Uranium Project in Western Australia ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/157911/uranex-starts-drilling-at-bremer-basin-uranium-project-in-western-australia-11490.html Uranex (ASX: UNX) has commenced a 6,000m aircore drilling program at its fully owned Bremer Basin Uranium Project, located north of Esperance in Western Australia, that covers a total area of approximately 1,300km2.

The company is targeting sedimentary, redox related uranium deposits in palaeochannels of the Bremer Basin over a total strike extent of 250km.

Multiple target zones of Mulga Rock and Beverly type uranium deposits have been identified within clearly mapped palaeochannels. Previous drilling intersected significant uranium mineralisation associated with carbonaceous sand and redox changes.

This new drilling programme builds upon a successful Helicopter Borne Electromagnetic Survey (HEM) to identify the palaeochannels and two phases of scout aircore drilling.

Uranium mineralisation including 2m @ 185ppm U3O8, including 1m at 248 ppm U3O8, was identified from previous first pass scout drilling.

A co-funding grant of $67,000 has been awarded to Uranex by the Western Australian Government in support of this programme, reinforcing Uranex’s view of the project’s prospectivity.

The initial phase of this programme is anticipated to take approximately two weeks to complete with the remainder to be completed in early 2011.

This new drilling program is running concurrently with a 5000m drilling program at the Mkuju Uranium project in Southern Tanzania, which adjoins Mantra Resources' (ASX: MRU) Mkuju River Project, where a Mineral Resource of 84.3 million pounds @ 464ppm U3O8 has been defined at the Nyota Prospect.

Uranex has a market capitalisation of A$21.69 million and A$2.23 million at the end of the September quarter.

<![CDATA[News - Uranex to raise A$5.78m for uranium exploration in Tanzania and Australia ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/157910/uranex-to-raise-a578m-for-uranium-exploration-in-tanzania-and-australia-11179.html Uranium exploration and development company Uranex (ASX: UNX) is to raise approximately $5.78m (before costs) through a non-renounceable rights issue to drive its ongoing uranium exploration and development plans across Australia and Tanzania.

The rights issue offers one new share for every three shares held at a price of 14 cents per share, and is to be fully underwritten by Patersons Securities Limited. Uranex will apply for the quotation of new shares on the ASX.

The funds raised will be applied to exploration/development activities across the company’s 100%-owned pipeline of projects, including:

- Manyoni project in central Tanzania - Pre-Feasibility Study development;
- Thatcher Soak project in Western Australia - Scoping Study development;
- Mkuju and Songea projects in southern Tanzania – advanced exploration;
- Alligator Rivers, Amadeus and Bremer Basin in the Northern Territory and Western Australia - early stage exploration.

The company is particularly focused on advanced exploration activities at the Mkuju Uranium Project in South Tanzania, which covers a total area of approximately 5,000km2 and adjoins Mantra Resources’ (ASX: MRU) Mkuju River Project, where a Mineral Resource of 84.3 million pounds @ 464ppm U3O8 has been defined.

The current 5000m drilling programme at the Mkuju Uranium Project is focused on three previously identified anomalous zones over a total strike extent of 5km at the Likuyu North prospect, with 15-20 diamond drill holes underway.

Diamond drilling of a further five holes is also planned at two zones over a total strike of 2km at the Grand Central Prospect.

Drilling has intersected uranium mineralisation in all holes with results of up to 5,990 ppm U3O8 returned from the surface of core samples using a Niton portable XRF analyser.

The diamond drilling programme is being supported by RC and auger drilling as well as an Airborne Electromagnetic (AEM) survey, which will assist in defining the Karoo sandstone sequences and channels hosting the uranium mineralisation.

Core samples from identified uranium bearing zones in diamond holes are currently being cut, pulverised and analysed with the Niton portable XRF analyser, and results will be provided to the market as they become available.

Samples with significant uranium identified through this process will then be sent to the laboratory for formal assaying by pressed pellet XRF.

Uranex shares last traded at 19 cents.
