The resource extension drilling over 2 kilometres in the central zone of Parks Reef indicates:

• Further thickening of the PGM horizon with 30 metres at 1.44 g/t 3E PGM* from 36 metres; and
• Potential for high grade pockets with 14 metres at 3.70 g/t 3E PGM* from 34 metres.

*3E PGM refers to platinum+palladium+gold expressed in units of g/t

Podium has now completed resource drilling for about 30% of the identified 15 kilometres strike length of Parks Reef.

The next step is to re-assay the mineralised intercepts for base metals, following which Podium will undertake resource modelling for the central zone, targeting a resource upgrade in Q1 2019.

It is worth noting that Podium’s maiden drilling program over 2.2 kilometres at the western end of the reef delivered an inferred resource containing 340,000 ounces of combined platinum, palladium and gold plus 14,300 tonnes of copper and 11,400 tonnes of nickel metal.

Last month, Podium confirmed the potential of ore from its Parks Reef PGM deposit to respond positively to conventional flotation processing methods.

Metallurgical test work has been undertaken on primary sulphide, oxide and transition mineralisation, with sighter flotation test work on sulphides showing similarities to Southern African sulphide PGM ores.

Oxide mineralisation from Parks Reef processed through flotation would provide Podium an opportunity to generate revenue from near-surface material.

The company is also investigating alternative process routes to maximise payable PGM, gold and base metal recoveries.

Metallurgical test work has been undertaken on primary sulphide, oxide and transition mineralisation, with sighter flotation test work on sulphides showing similarities to Southern African sulphide PGM ores.

The company is also investigating alternative process routes to maximise payable PGM, gold and base metal recoveries.

Sulphide samples similar to Southern African ore types

The drill samples collected from Parks Reef were tested in South Africa by Mintek with supervision from DRA Pacific Pty Ltd.

Initial results from a sulphide sample have shown some similarities to Platreef and Great Dyke ore types, from South Africa and Zimbabwe respectively, with similar base metal contents.

A sighter test using standard flotation conditions returned a rougher circuit PGM recovery of 71% and copper recovery of 69%.

A single open circuit cleaner test on the rougher concentrate achieved a grade of 58 g/t PGM and 5% copper with cleaner stage recoveries of 73% and 85%, respectively.

The rougher test is considered indicative of overall recovery potential while the open circuit cleaner test is indicative of potential concentrate grades.

A follow-up test with the addition of a secondary rougher stage with a finer grind was shown to increase rougher circuit PGM recovery to 81%.

Testing of a shallow oxide sample under different float conditions achieved rougher circuit PGM recoveries between 44-48% which is similar to recoveries on Southern African oxide ores.

Flotation recoveries in the oxide zone are likely to be variable with a second shallow sample shown to have minimal free-floating PGMs.

Podium expects performance will improve with depth, as analysis of a deeper transitional sample showed bulk mineralogy more similar to the fresh sulphide sample.

Alternative processes to maximise payable metals

Given Parks Reef’s unique characteristics as a shallow polymetallic bulk mining operation, Podium is exploring alternative processes to maximise payable metals from the oxidised mineralisation.

This investigation has a strong focus on gold and base metals.

The company has held initial discussions with specialists in PGM, gold and base metal leaching processes at the Western Australian School of Mines.

Podium envisages a low capital cost leaching operation that would optimise recoveries and produce high-purity products from the near-surface oxide material.

Resource modelling for platinum, palladium and gold, as well as significant base metals, is underway.

Metallurgical test results will suppose this modelling work and will provide a basis for engineering and project development studies.

The base metals and gold sit in the hanging wall and reinforce the core strength of the mineralisation in terms of bulk mining potential of Parks Reef, which is within the broader Weld Range Complex.

Broad intercepts

Intercepts up to 30 metres of combined mineralisation in the base metal and PGM horizons represent a true width in Parks Reef of about 20 metres.

The initial program consisted of 3,018 metres of reverse circulation drilling.

Podium chief executive officer Tom Stynes said, “The base metal results provide an important value driver as we look to optimise a development pathway.”

The base metal enrichment consistently overlaps with previously identified high-grade sub-layering in the upper portion of the PGM horizon.

High-value mineralised domain

This creates a high-value PGM-gold-base metal mineralised domain.

Initial review of the base metal results indicates the potential significance of the base metal value and Podium will incorporate this data into resource modelling work.

Test work in progress

A metallurgical test work program is in progress in South Africa which will also feed into the resource work with results anticipated during September.

Podium is planning a second drilling campaign and will provide further details in the coming weeks.

The company’s core projects are within its mining leases covering an area of 77 square kilometres over the entire Weld Range Complex.

This complex lies about 40 kilometres west of the Great Northern Highway midway between Cue and Meekatharra in Western Australia.

Podium is additionally assembling a portfolio of exploration licences in WA and Northern Territory which are prospective for gold and base metals to provide a complementary pipeline of projects.
