The geological evaluation and sampling program was the third conducted at the project after gold nuggets were found at the Marble Bar North tenement in December last year.

READ: MinRex Resources scores high-grade gold and strong multi-elements in East Pilbara sampling

Results from both prospects were generally low for most elements, except for gold assays.

Marble Bar North’s gold assays varied from zero up to 105 g/t gold, with an average of 6 g/t from all 20 samples taken across the northern prospect.

Three assays graded more than 1 g/t and 10 were more than 0.1 g/t.

The highest-grade samples of 105 g/t came from loose, iron-rich quartz vein material in the spoil pile of a small pit near the granite/greenstone contact and part of the old Ironclad mine workings.

READ: MinRex Resources concludes detailed sampling program at East Pilbara tenements

MinRex also collected 20 samples from its Marble Bar South project area, targeting conglomerate horizons and outcrops beyond and around the old workings.

Several samples were anomalous in various elements, but gold assays varied from 2 ppb gold up to 37.7 g/t, with an average of 2 g/t across the 20 samples.

The highest value sample of 27.7 g/t came from a loose quartz vein float sample that may have been transported from higher up on the ridge line.

More sampling and geological mapping will be required to determine the significance of this sample.

The known gold mineralisation at the southern prospect occurs as a 100-metre-long and 2-metre-wide zone of quartz veining in pyritic-fuchsite-carbonate rock which lies parallel to the regional schistosity.

Sampling aimed to test underexplored parts of the licence, particularly the conglomerate-bearing areas, for previously undetected gold mineralisation.

The next phase of field work on MinRex’s East Pilbara projects will comprise further metal-detecting along with detailed rock sampling, soil sampling and detailed geological mapping.

These programs will be utilised to better understand these complex gold, base metal and poly-metallic mineralised systems.

There were five prospect areas tested with 230 rock samples collected last month to follow-up previous successful sampling programs.

The most recent work returned assays of up to 22.9 g/t gold, 36 g/t silver, 18.5% copper, 0.20% chrome, 0.15% nickel, 0.12% lead and 0.28% zinc.

READ: MinRex Resources concludes detailed sampling program at East Pilbara tenements

MinRex said the results built on very encouraging results from exploration in May-June 2018 and highlighted the prospectivity and potential of this remote project area near Marble Bar.

A field program in December 2017 recovered gold nuggets from the Marble Bar North tenement and assay results were announced for 10 rock samples collected from the Marble Bar South tenement in February 2018.

Geological map showing MinRex’s East Pilbara project areas.

An additional 190 rock samples, from all project areas - Marble Bar North and South, Daltons and Bamboo Creek - were subsequently collected in May 2018 with encouraging results announced in June 2018.

Third batch of samples collected

Following this, a detailed review of the results was carried out which led to the follow-up field exploration work completed in August.

The intention of these programs was to collect a large number of rock samples from the areas of old workings, prospects, anomalous areas, potential target areas and prospective geological zones and horizons in the East Pilbara project area.

In conjunction with metal detecting in selected areas, these samples were then subjected to multi-element analyses in order to discover the most prospective areas.

A large part of the focus of the most recent fieldwork was on the two exploration licences comprising the Bamboo Creek project.

This is a large project area, being several times the size of all of the other East Pilbara project areas combined.

Geological map of the Bamboo Creek project area.

The large area, remote location and under-explored history combine to make it ideal for more detailed study, sampling and field exploration.

Near historical mining centre

Bamboo Creek gold mining centre was discovered in the 1890s, before the finds at Marble Bar, and has been active, on and off, for more than 120 years.

This centre was historically one of the major gold producers in the Pilbara region, with more than 250,000 ounces of gold mined and recovered.

The nearby Spinifex Ridge molybdenum-copper porphyry deposit also contains a major JORC-compliant mineral resource of molybdenum and copper.

Further work planned

Once collated and analysed the recent results at Bamboo Creek will be followed up with new programs of metal-detecting, surface soil and rock sampling and geological mapping.

MinRex is also planning further similar work on all East Pilbara project licences.

Outcropping Warrawoona Group rocks in the northern portion of E45/4560.

The next phase will again incorporate visits to all four of the project areas around the Marble Bar area.

Further detailed rock sampling, soil sampling in colluvium and soil covered areas and detailed geological mapping will be utilised to better understand these complex gold, base metal and polymetallic mineralised systems.

This work will start in the near future, prior to the summer heat and rain, during the current field season in the Pilbara.

At Marble Bar North, a total of 20 rock samples were collected from the extensive old workings, scree areas and old mullock piles.

The gold mineralisation in this area occurs as quartz veins in sheared and strongly carbonated greenstones and associated alteration zones, in dolerite and other mafic rock types.

READ: MinRex Resources high-grade gold samples to map 2018 plan at East Pilbara

At Marble Bar South, a total of 20 rock samples were collected from conglomerate outcrop areas in the north of the licence, plus scree, mullock and some from the old workings.

This license area covers the contact of the basal Fortescue Group conglomerate and basalt with Archean greenstones.

Forward plan

The assay results for the 270 samples collected in the current exploration program are expected in early-September 2018.

The next (third) phase of fieldwork in the East Pilbara will again incorporate visits to all four of the project areas in the Marble Bar area.

Further detailed rock sampling, soil sampling and detailed geological mapping will be utilised to better understand these complex gold, base metal and poly-metallic mineralised systems.

It is probable that this work will be completed in the next few months, prior to the summer heat and rain, during the current field season in the Pilbara.

The Inferred category resource is at the Pacific Highway prospect and measures 697,000 tonnes grading 1,157 ppm cobalt, 9,043 ppm nickel and 39.5 ppm scandium.

This results in contained metal of 806 tonnes of cobalt, 6,301 tonnes of nickel and 27.5 tonnes of scandium.

MinRex’s director Simon Durack said: “The board is pleased the geology team has been able to model an inferred cobalt resource to the current JORC code.

“Of significance is the cobalt grade, which the geology team believes ranks highly when compared with Australian peers, and the potential to materially expand the resource size with more exploration work followed by a targeted drilling program.”

Maiden resource shows project’s value potential

Given cobalt’s increasing price over the past 18 months, this maiden resource shows the Pacific Express project’s value potential.

At current spot prices of US$87,500 per tonne, the contained cobalt metal in this Inferred resource has a current gross value of over A$90 million.

Project has several other high-priority targets

MinRex’s geology team believe the resource can be materially expanded with additional exploration work on high priority areas.

The Pacific Highway prospect represents only a small area within the Pacific Express tenement.

With several other high priority targets already identified, there is significant potential to expand the resource size with an exploration drilling program.

Acquisition due diligence focus on Western Australia projects

In March 2018, MinRex proposed the acquisition of Clean Power Resources Pty Ltd, an exploration company with three projects.

These projects are the Pacific Express Project and two Western Australian projects, Knight and Dragon about 50 kilometres west of Leonora.

Having modelled an inferred resource, MinRex's geology team have completed the pre-acquisition due diligence on the Pacific Express project.

The geology team’s focus will now turn to finishing acquisition due diligence on the two Western Australian projects.

<![CDATA[News - MinRex Resources to get busy exploring in Australia, admitted to the ASX ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/138922/minrex-resources-to-get-busy-exploring-in-australia-admitted-to-the-asx-21707.html MinRex Resources (ASX: MRR) will targeted precious and base metals in Australia, and has been admitted to the ASX after a successful IPO which offered 17.5 million shares at $0.20, to raise $3.5 million.

MinRex will hit the ASX boards of Friday 11 November at 2:00pm EDST.

The company has entered into two acquisition agreements which include Pembery Prospecting Pty Ltd and Stannum Resources Pty Ltd.

Under the acquisitions, MinRex has acquired 100% of the Deflector Extended Gold Project in Western Australia and the Heemskirk Tin Project in Tasmania for the payment of $10,000 and $1,000 respectively.

In the region of the Deflector project, gold production commenced in the late 1800's for several decades, and during this period a total of 35,726 ounces of gold was produced from a total of 24,000 tonnes of ore at the high grade of 46.3 grams per tonne gold.

In regards to the Heemskirk project, historical exploration was limited to no-systematic prospecting activities, and has only focussed on surface mineralisation.

The most substantial exploration efforts have focussed on the Peripatetic mine which consists of five adits, three shafts and numerous small open pits.

The IPO funds will now be allocated to advance exploration at these projects.
