Legend’s managing director Mr Mark Wilson said: “This comprehensive wrap up of results from the Area D prospect represents the culmination of several months of fieldwork and desktop studies.

The nett result has given our team the confidence that conductor D5 represents our top priority diamond drill target at this prospect.

“Our geophysical consultants have recommended an additional low frequency EM survey to enable them to better model D5. Once the results from this survey are analysed the next step is the eagerly awaited diamond drill programme.”

Industry heavyweight IGO takes stake in Legend

This morning, nickel heavyweight Independence Group revealed that it has become a substantial shareholder of Legend with a 11.94% stake.

The holding comes as a results of the recent agreements signed with Independence and well-known prospector Mark Creasy’s Creasy Group Pty Ltd.

These agreements include three new joint ventures covering parts of Legend’s large Rockford Rroject and raising $9.8 million in a two-tranche subscription arrangement with Independence.

Proactive caught up with Legend last Friday for an update.

These agreements include three new joint ventures covering parts of Legend’s large Rockford project in the Fraser Range and raising $9.8 million in a two-tranche subscription arrangement with Independence.

One JV agreement with Creasy Group covers two Fraser Range tenements contiguous with existing Rockford project tenure.

Two other JV agreements have been signed with Independence and Creasy Group.

“Legend a key player”

Mark Creasy, a leading prospector who thrust the Fraser Range in the global spotlight with the Nova-Bollinger discovery, said: “These transactions demonstrate a common goal between the three parties to unlock further value in the fertile Fraser Range.

“I see Legend as a key player in this quest.”

Shares up 27%

Investors responded positively with shares up as much as 27% in early trade to 3.7 cents.

The $9.8 million subscription agreement with Independence involves a placement at an issue price of 3.6 cents a share, which represents a 20% premium to the average share price for 2019.

Following tranche-one IGO will hold an 11.9% shareholding in Legend, increasing to 14.18% after the second tranche.

This agreement also includes attaching three-year options with an exercise price of 7.2 cents per option.

Tranche-one will be completed under Legend’s existing 15% placement capacity and tranche-two is subject to shareholder approval at a meeting which is expected to be held in October 2019.

Legend managing director Mark Wilson said: “Securing this funding is an important outcome for Legend shareholders.

“It has been possible due to the new joint venture with Creasy over 709 square kilometres of ground which has known nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation at the Octagonal prospect within the new joint venture.”

Independence Group’s CEO and managing director Peter Bradford said: “IGO is pleased to be investing in Legend Mining and its Rockford North tenements.

“Legend’s mineral exploration holdings in the Fraser Range are extensive and are highly prospective for magmatic nickel-copper-cobalt sulphide deposits, with numerous prospects already identified.

“IGO will work closely with Legend’s exploration team to drive discovery success at Rockford.”

Advanced prospects

The new Ponton Joint Venture with Creasy Group covers two tenements on the western margin of the Fraser Zone and contain two advanced nickel-copper-cobalt prospects, Octagonal and Magnus.

Octagonal is the third publicly disclosed example, along with the Nova and Silver Knight deposits, of massive nickel-copper-cobalt sulphide mineralisation identified to date in the Fraser Range.

An extensive exploration dataset representing historic expenditure of $15 million exists over these two prospects.

Legend will acquire a 70% interest in these tenements for:

55.55 million Legend shares at deemed price of 3.6 cents, subject to shareholder approval; 277.77 million Legend shares at deemed price of 3.6 cents, upon completion of a bankable feasibility study and a decision to mine, subject to shareholder approval; and Legend to sole fund exploration and free carry Creasy’s 30% interest through to the signing of mining venture agreements. Rockford JVA 2019

Legend, IGO and Creasy have entered into a new joint venture agreement (JVA), the Rockford JVA 2019, over two Rockford North tenements.

This will give IGO a 60% interest, management rights and responsibilities, and Creasy and Legend will have free carried interests over 30% and 10% respectively.

Legend and IGO has also entered a JVA over three Legend tenements whereby IGO will have a 70% interest, management rights and responsibilities, and Legend will have a free carried 30% interest.

Rockford project – proposed tenure post new JV agreements.

Wilson added: “The added dimension to the transaction is the additional joint ventures with IGO over the northern Rockford area which will give new technical impetus to our exploration efforts.

“Legend welcomes IGO to our register as our second largest shareholder.”

Worsley is Legend’s best VMS prospect

Legend’s managing director Mark Wilson said: “These results have elevated Worsley to Legend’s best VMS prospect at our Rockford project.

“Independence Group have previously highlighted the VMS potential in the region with their Andromeda discovery in July 2018.

“The mineralised footprint we have identified is in the vicinity of the top of the modelled conductor which is a further positive feature.

“We will need to do more of our innovative EM surveys to better model the conductor as the current 500-metre line spaced work is insufficient to properly design diamond drill testing.

“This EM work will be commissioned as a priority and will be done in conjunction with the EM work required at the nearby Crean prospect.”

Legend’s managing director Mark Wilson said, “The new assays have increased the footprint of the highly anomalous nickel-copper-cobalt geochemistry over the D5 conductor and has added a robustness to the target horizons at this location.

“The IP was unable to penetrate the cover and we are now investigating alternative geophysical methodologies to assist in target selection for diamond drilling.”

The planned 3D induced polarisation (IP) survey to assist diamond drilling planning was severely affected by electromagnetic coupling effects.

55 holes drilled, more assays pending

To date, 55 holes have been completed over 13 of the 14 conductors with five holes at D13 remaining.

The ultimate aim of the aircore drilling is to identify favourable nickel-copper host rocks with associated anomalous nickel-copper.

Drilling has intersected favourable nickel-copper mafic and ultramafic intrusive host rocks including gabbro, gabbronorite and pyroxenite at all 13 conductors tested so far.

The aircore drill results will be used to design diamond drill holes to test for economic mineral systems.

The buyer connected to multinational Indian steel company Jindal Steel & Power Ltd had bought the Cameroon Iron Ore Project in West Africa from Legend in 2014 transaction revised in July 2015 to include a second $6 million cash sale sum.

READ: Legend Mining has two new prospects in prolific Fraser Range

While the payment for the project in Cameroon was reorganised the next month and split into two further sums of $3 million each, only the second tranche, of $3 million was received, in September 2015.

The third tranche, of $3 million, remained unpaid and become a long-term accounts receivable on the company’s books.

Under an agreement announced today, Jindal will start paying $250,000 a month for the iron ore project this October and pay the sum monthly until its principal debt is paid off in August 2020.

Once Jindal ships first commercial iron ore from the project, Legend will be owed its final tranche, a further $5 million payment.

Legend is backed by prospector Mark Creasy’s investment firm Yandal Investments Pty Ltd and is focused on its exploration on Western Australia’s Fraser Range.

The junior company’s key asset is the Rockford nickel-copper-gold joint venture project on the Fraser Range in WA.

Extending over 2,621 square kilometres, its JV project is run in partnership with Creasy’s Creasy Group Pty Ltd.

DEEP DIVE: Legend Mining revving the engine for Fraser Range field efforts with Creasy team

Legend’s Rockford package covers a 100-kilometre strike length of over a high regional gravity “ridge” associated with the dense mafic/ultramafic intrusive rocks of the Fraser Zone, within the larger Albany-Fraser Orogen.

Nova-Bollinger is within Fraser Zone, on a gravity ridge of similar tenor to Rockford project.

Two prospective targets at Rockford have been recently unveiled, Crean and Worsley, both named for historic exploration legends.

The nickel-copper-cobalt prospective Crean target is reportedly similar to Nova, Silver Knight and Area D, while Worsley is a copper-zinc-gold volcanic massive sulphide (VMS)-style prospect.

The company’s ongoing systematic aircore drilling and geophysics across its large Fraser Range landholding has revealed the Crean and Worsley prospects in the Rockford South area.

Rockford is in the same area in which Independence Group (ASX:IGO) has been so successful with its Nova-Bollinger operations and subsequent Andromeda discovery.

READ: Legend Mining assays strengthen Rockford South nickel-copper-cobalt potential

Legend’s managing director Mark Wilson told Proactive Investors that the Crean prospect “is something that those who watch the company are very familiar with”.

He said: “It is a nickel-copper-cobalt story, similar to what is at Nova and Mark Creasy’s Silver Knight deposit and what we are hoping to flesh out at Area D, which remains our number one target.”

At Crean, broad anomalous nickel intervals were returned in two holes:

28 metres at 0.17% nickel, 0.02% copper and 0.03% cobalt from 16 metres; and 34 metres at 0.19% nickel, 0.01% copper and 0.03% cobalt from 20 metres. Copper-zinc-gold VMS-style prospect

Wilson said Worsley was a copper-zinc-gold VMS-style prospect, “the implications of which are probably more understood by industry ‘tech-heads’.

“There are some very strong indicator and pathfinder elements in that core consistent with VMS.”

A previous hole at Worsley intersected a profile containing 49 metres of ferruginous saprolilte before ending at 97 metres in banded mafic granulite with elevated copper-zinc-silver and trace amounts of pyrite.

It returned an intersection of 9 metres at 0.09% copper, 0.06% zinc and 1.47 g/t silver from 88 metres to the end of the hole.

Rockford South prospect locations.

A new hole drilled 100 metres to the east of this hole has defined coherent metal zoning including 12 metres at 0.09% copper, overlying 20 metres at 0.11% zinc.

READ: Legend Mining revving the engine for Fraser Range field efforts with Creasy team

Wilson said: “When you look at the assays, there is virtually a Periodic Table of Elements in there.

“You really do need to know your onions to know that 20 metres of 0.11% zinc is potentially quite significant.

“We believe that our nearby Shackleton prospect is also VMS, as is the nearby Andromeda discovery of Independence.”

Explorer theme for names

Wilson explained that the company had adopted a ‘legendary explorer’ theme with naming of its tenements with Shackleton, Crean and Worsley being intrepid Antarctic explorers.

He said that Crean and Worsley were the result of the company’s “systematic work bearing fruit”.

“This whole Rockford area is soil covered and all we can do is go systematically about aircore drilling and doing geophysics to try and find things of interest,” he added.

Results from 15 infill aircore drill holes following up anomalous geochemistry in previous Rockford South holes confirmed the previous results along with the presence of two mineralisation styles.

Two prospects targeted in the Rockford South area are now named Crean and Worsley.

Crean is considered a magmatic nickel-copper intrusive related style while Worsley displays characteristics of a copper-zinc-gold VMS system.

Rockford South prospect locations

READ: Legend Mining begins IP survey at Rockford Nickel-Copper Project in WA

Legend managing director Mark Wilson said: “The nickel footprint at Crean is within a major structural trend which runs from Nova in the south past Silver Knight up into Legend’s tenements and on into the north-western area of the Fraser Zone.

“This structural trend is interpreted to contain the deep structures which are fundamental to the formation of the style of deposits we are seeking.

“The new assays from Worsley add an extra dimension to the VMS potential – both infill programs have provided valuable information for future works.”

READ: Legend Mining kicks off 2019 exploration program on Fraser Range

The Crean prospect lies within an interpreted structural corridor near the western margin of the Fraser Zone and is considered prospective for nickel-copper mineralisation similar to Nova-Bollinger and Silver Knight.

Broad anomalous nickel intervals were returned in two holes at Crean:

28 metres at 0.17% nickel, 0.02% copper and 0.03% cobalt from 16 metres; and 34 metres at 0.19% nickel, 0.01% copper and 0.03% cobalt from 20 metres.

Crean aircore drillholes on aeromagnetics

Ten infill aircore drillholes at 50, 100, and 200 metre spacings around a previous hole at Crean were completed to define the extent of the anomalous nickel geochemistry.

Two holes drilled 100 metres and 200 metres south of the previous hole, both returned broad intervals with anomalous nickel associated with the same olivine-rich ultramafic unit.

Worsley aircore drillholes and MLTEM conductor on aeromagnetics

At Worsley one hole intersected a profile containing 49 metres of ferruginous saprolite before ending at 97 metres in banded mafic granulite with elevated copper-zinc-silver and trace amounts of pyrite.

It returned an intersection of 9 metres at 0.09% copper, 0.06% zinc, and 1.47 g/t silver from 88 metres to the end of the hole.

The results provide further strong evidence for VMS style mineralisation and, along with the associated MLTEM conductor, make Worsley a compelling target.

Wilson added: "Both infill programs have provided valuable information for future works.”

Future programs

Further infill aircore drilling at Worsley to define the extent of the anomalous multi-element geochemistry is planned to assist deep drill hole design.

An MLTEM survey is also planned at Crean to test for conductors associated with the anomalous nickel results and ultramafic host rocks.

Work to date in the highly prospective region in which the Creasy Group followed by Independence Group NL (ASX:IGO) have tasted success has identified nickel-copper and copper-zinc-silver mineralisation.

Aircore drilling and IP survey

The initial 2019 program will incorporate aircore drilling at Rockford South and Area D targets along with a 3D Induced Polarisation (IP) survey at Area D.

Legend also plans to test regional targets within a 25 kilometre radius of Area D with further aircore drilling.

READ: Legend Mining revving the engine for Fraser Range field efforts with Creasy team

Extending over a 2,621 square kilometre expanse, the JV project is run in partnership with legendary prospector Mark Creasy’s the Creasy Group Pty Ltd, which has a 30% stake with Legend holding 70%.

An exploration team from the Creasy Group is expected to assist with the program.

First target in the aircore program of around 100 holes for about 8,000 metres is Rockford South where drilling will follow-up anomalous results from two holes drilled late last year.

These holes returned two different styles of mineralisation with one showing characteristics of a copper-zinc-silver VMS system and the other is considered a magmatic nickel-copper intrusive related style.

The drilling, which is underway, is aimed at defining the extent of the anomalous geochemical footprint surrounding both holes.

Legend also believes this work will provide further bedrock information associated with the S1 EM conductor coincident with the VMS-style mineralisation.

A 60-hole aircore program will follow at Area D focusing on the up-dip projection of 14 previously identified conductors.

This work is specifically designed to provide geochemical and bedrock lithology information associated with the footwall, top and hangingwall positions of modelled EM conductor plates.

The company aims to identify favourable nickel-copper host rocks with associated anomalous nickel-copper geochemistry.

Diamond drilling planned

Results will be integrated with MLTEM survey results along with those from the upcoming IP survey to assist in prioritising the EM conductors ahead of diamond drilling.

The IP survey over the MLTEM conductors is scheduled to commence later this week.

It will comprise five lines of double offset pole-dipole 3D IP covering an area of about 20 square kilometres.

<![CDATA[News - Legend Mining revving the engine for Fraser Range field efforts with Creasy team ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/214997/legend-mining-revving-the-engine-for-fraser-range-field-efforts-with-creasy-team-214997.html Legend Mining Ltd (ASX:LEG) specialises in exploration on Western Australia’s Fraser Range. It is run by Mark Wilson, an engineer with more than 30 years executive experience, including 20 years in mining leadership.

What does Legend Mining own?

The key asset is the Rockford nickel-copper-gold joint venture project on the Fraser Range in WA.

Extending over a 2,621 square kilometre expanse, the JV project is run in partnership with legendary prospector Mark Creasy’s the Creasy Group Pty Ltd.

Creasy Group has a 30% stake in the JV to Legend’s 70% majority stake.

Legendary prospector Creasy was behind Sirius Resources NL (ASX:SIR) when it struck the jackpot at Nova-Bollinger and started “The Great Nickel Rush” on Fraser Range.

Sirius was then taken over by the now owner of the Nova-Bollinger Nickel-Copper Project, Independence Group’s (ASX:IGO).

Legend’s Rockford Nickel-Copper-Gold Project is prospective for an ore body similar to the Nova-Bollinger nickel-copper deposit.

Rockford project consists of 12 contiguous granted exploration licences about 120 kilometres northeast of the Nova-Bollinger nickel-copper underground mine.

A sum of $11.2 million has already been spent on exploration at Rockford.

An upcoming induced polarisation (IP) program at Rockford project’s Area D is planned for this quarter, with a Creasy exploration team expected to assist with determining which of 11 conductors to drill next, in which order.

The program is aimed at designing locations for diamond drilling.

Last quarter nine new conductors were identified at the Area D prospect while two previous conductors were better defined.

In total, 25 areas selected from aeromagnetic and gravity efforts at Rockford project.

Thirty-two conductors have been identified with moving loop electromagnetic (MLEM) surveying.

Four diamond holes have been drilled for 2,652 metres, 10 reverse circulation (RC) holes for 2,266 metres and 524 aircore holes for 34,700 metres.

Ongoing aircore drill activities are planned to restart start at Rockford next month, taking in Rockford South first

At Shackleton prospect two new conductors and an anomalous volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) geochemical signature were identified in the December quarter.

Further MLEM surveying over this trend is planned for this year.

Also on Legend’s work program for Rockford is an aeromagnetic survey over a portion of Rockford South.

Legend spent $1.1 million on exploration and evaluation last quarter, pulling in a $1.3 million R&D tax credit to put $5,000 of funds towards operating activities.

The company ended December with $3.5 million cash and no debt.

It expects $770,000 in cash outflows this quarter, with $500,000 budgeted for exploration efforts.

Creasy’s investment management firm Yandal Investments Pty Ltd had a 16.86% significant stake in Legend on March 16 last year.

Also on the registry at the time were Australian Gold Resources Pty Ltd (8.07%) and Chester Nominees WA Pty Ltd (6.16%).

Legend reports its annual results on a calendar year basis, with the next report expected in March.

The two conductors are located near the western margin of a magnetically distinct stratigraphic package considered prospective for volcanic massive sulphide (VMS) style mineralisation.

Further MLEM surveying over this trend is planned for 2019.

Legend Managing Director Mark Wilson said, “These results are a positive end to the 2018 field season which itself has been a very productive one for value adding exploration news.

“Legend is now poised for an exciting 2019 year commencing with the IP survey over our Area D prospect.”

READ: Legend Mining aircore results reveal two new prospects

The Shackleton 1 conductor has a weak to moderate conductance and moderate size, but importantly coincides with the western margin of the strong magnetic feature.

Reverse circulation (RC) or diamond drilling to test Shackleton 1 is planned.

Shackleton 2 is a broad, relatively flat-lying low conductivity feature.

Further MLEM surveying is required to the south of Shackleton 2 to define the extent of the feature and determine whether the conductance and character of the conductor changes along strike.

Further aircore drilling and MLEM surveying of the greater prospect is planned.

Cash balance increased

Legend lodged it’s FY2018 tax return in November 2018 and received a R&D cash refund from the Australian Taxation Office of $1,.28 million on 7 December 2018.

The company also received its December 2018 interest payment of $30,000 on 20 December 2018.

Legend’s managing director Mark Wilson said: “Both these results are positive news for Legend shareholders.

“The nickel values in mafic/ultramafic rocks in hole RKAC520 opens up a new prospect for Nova style nickel-copper mineralisation similar to Area D.

“The copper-zinc-silver above the S1 conductor is very complimentary to the work we are doing at Shackleton.

“This has broadened the base of both styles of known anomalous mineralisation for follow up work next year.”

“Follow-up aircore drilling and ground electromagnetic programs are scheduled to commence within the next fortnight and results from this work will shed further light in this area.”

The biggest block on the best street

Legend continues to hunt nickel sulphides in its 2,621 square kilometres of tenure in the globally renowned Fraser Range region.

The exploration focus is on the Rockford Project which is prospective for Nova style nickel-copper sulphides and Tropicana style gold deposits.

A regional aircore program is ongoing with 195 holes for 12,153 metres completed to date over aeromagnetic, gravity and structural targets in the Rockford South region.

The regional program has provided valuable geological information over the southern portion of Rockford and will be completed in mid-November 2018.

Nickel stockpiles diminishing

Legend believes the nickel market is well positioned with the supply-demand balance being in deficit since 2016.

Stockpiles continue to diminish from their peak of 900,000 tonnes in 2015, which has supported rising prices.

The company is primarily targeting nickel-copper-cobalt along trend from IGO’s Nova-Bollinger deposit along with copper-zinc near IGO’s recent Andromeda discovery.

Extensive innovative high power moving loop EM surveys (MLTEM) will continue this quarter in conjunction with regional aircore drilling over selected targets.

READ: Legend Mining commences high power survey in search of next Nova

The company has had success in identifying targets utilising these methods and aims to continue its consolidation of the Rockford project, which covers a total area of 2,792.5 square kilometres.

Most of Rockford is subject to a joint venture between Legend (70%) and Creasy Group (30%), with Legend operator and manager with the remaining 262.5 square kilometres 100%-owned by Legend.

The majority of recent work has been at Area D where a comprehensive geophysical and geological review was undertaken after completion of an aircore drilling program.

MLTEM surveys continue

This resulted in the design of extensive MLTEM surveys which are continuing.

The ultimate aim is to identify new conductors associated with massive sulphide mineralisation hosted by mafic/ultramafic intrusions and to better define previously identified conductors.

MLTEM surveying will cover four zones with coherent anomalous nickel-copper-cobalt geochemistry identified by the aircore drilling, and a wider 32 square kilometre area containing mafic/ultramafic intrusions.

At Rockford South extensive regional aircore drilling was undertaken during the September quarter with 174 holes for 10,849 metres completed.

Further aircore drilling

A further 40 holes are planned for the December quarter to complete the program.

This is aimed at providing lithological and geochemical information on four previously identified EM conductors - two in Area J with others in Area Q and Area U - along with a number of aeromagnetic and gravity features.

The design of this program is the result of a project-wide review and is part of Legend’s systematic exploration approach.

The new prospect comes as a result of Independence Group Ltd (ASX:IGO) making a recent discovery at the nearby Andromeda copper-zinc project.

IGO drilled 29.9 metres at 1.36% copper, 2.51% zinc, 19.9 g/t silver, 0.35 g/t gold from 548.1 metres at the discovery.

Seven kilometres from Rockford Project boundary

Legend’s managing director Mark Wilson said: “IGO highlighted the thick massive sulphide intersections at the Andromeda project in the release to the ASX on 26 July in the Fraser Range exploration summary.

“Andromeda is only 7 kilometres from Legend’s southern tenement boundary.

“This should be regarded as a complimentary additional item to the Rockford Project inventory and not a distraction from our primary focus of nickel-copper-cobalt discovery.”

<![CDATA[News - Legend Mining continues to draw comparisons with Nova-Bollinger deposit ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/201791/legend-mining-continues-to-draw-comparisons-with-nova-bollinger-deposit-201791.html Legend Mining Limited (ASX:LEG) continues to identify strong comparisons between its Rockford project and one of the world’s most significant nickel discoveries of recent years – the Nova-Bollinger deposit of Independence Group NL (ASX:IGO).

The two projects not only share an address in Western Australia’s world-class Fraser Range, they also share almost identical geology.

Mark Creasy a common denominator

Another common denominator is Australian mining industry ‘legend’ Mark Creasy who is the driving force behind much of the activity on the Fraser Range.

Creasy, who was behind Sirius Resources when it struck the Nova-Bollinger jackpot, has 16% of IGO and 28% of Legend while most of Legend’s 2,800 square kilometre Fraser Zone tenement position is a joint venture in which he has 30%.

He also has 31% of newcomer Galileo Mining Ltd (ASX:GAL), which has ground in the zone, and privately owns Great Southern Nickel.

New nickel-copper-cobalt discovery

The latter has stirred further interest in the Fraser Range with a new nickel-copper-cobalt discovery and lodgement of an application for a mining licence over the 61 square kilometre property.

Although details are sparse, submitting a licence application also entails attaching a mineralisation report.

Media reports says Creasy is optimistic that it will turn out to be a substantial ore body and he has stated that it has the same style of mineralisation as Nova-Bollinger.

Industry speculation is that the discovery could be at least one-third the size of the 2012 Nova-Bollinger discovery.

The ‘biggest block on the best street’

This augurs well for Legend, which according to managing director Mark Wilson, has the ‘biggest block on the best street’.

Rockford occupies 18% of the total Fraser Zone area and is 120 kilometres north of Nova and 100 kilometres south of the Tropicana joint venture gold operation.

As Legend has advanced exploration at Rockford, primarily adopting the same techniques as those used to discover the Nova-Bollinger ore body, the similarities have strengthened.

So, too, has investor interest with shares increasing from less than 1 cent in mid-November 2017 to a 12-month high of 6.6 cents last week.

READ: Legend Mining better defines scale of nickel-copper-cobalt at Fraser Range project

Mark Wilson addresses a Proactive CEO Session last week.

Recent efforts have focused on Area D, one of 21 conductors identified by innovative MLTEM survey work and confirmed by 13,315 metres of aircore drilling carried out since November 2017.

Significantly, Area D lies on the northeast margin of the central gravity hotspot while the Nova deposit is on the northeast margin of the southern gravity hotspot.

Wilson last week outlined to investors during the Proactive CEO Sessions that the results of this drilling are almost identical, if not better than those returned at Nova.

Blanket of enrichment

They indicate that Area D has a thick blanket of nickel-copper-cobalt enrichment with all holes ending in mineralisation hosted in gabbronorite.

This is an almost identical pattern to that revealed at The Eye anomaly in 2011, which resulted in the Nova 2012 discovery.

At The Eye drilling intersected a thick blanket of nickel-copper-cobalt enrichment which was open in all directions with underlying rocks being meta-gabbro/gabbronorite with disseminated pyrrhotite-pentlandite-chalcopyrite.

It is now being utilised in a 150-hole program for about 10,000 metres targeting a combination of four EM conductors and priority aeromagnetic/gravity features.

Legend managing director Mark Wilson said: “Following the success of the aircore drilling at Area D we are pleased to announce the details of the 10,000-metre regional program.

“Meanwhile, the planning for the next phases of work at Area D is well underway.”

The new program will be undertaken over 21 drill traverses with holes at 400-metre spacing.

It is expected to take three to four months to complete.

The design of the program results from a project-wide review and is part of Legend’s systematic approach to exploration at Rockford.

It is aimed at providing lithological and geochemical information on four previously identified electromagnetic (EM) conductors along with aeromagnetic and gravity features.

Two of the conductors are at Area J with the others at Area Q and Area U.

Planning for next work at Area D

Legend has received assay results for the remaining 18 drill hole at Area D.

While no anomalous geochemistry was encountered, the majority of the holes intersected gabbronorite.

This provides further evidence of the widespread occurrence of favourable host rocks at Area D.

To investigate Area D more fully, Legend has reviewed geophysical, geological and geochemical data, and will use this in the final design of a new exploration program.

This will incorporate innovative EM survey work.

The results of aircore drilling, which also include cobalt assays, enable the company to draw strong comparisons with the nearby Nova-Bollinger deposit of Independence Group NL (ASX:IGO).

Share price on the move

They have also seen the company’s shares march upwards, with a new 12-month high of 6.6 cents reached on Friday.

READ: Legend Mining’s nickel-copper-cobalt results continue to provide Nova-Bollinger comparisons

Legend's managing director Mark Wilson said: "This batch of assays has completed defining the extent of the four mineralised footprints at Area D.

"The remaining assays are from drilling over other nearby features of interest.”

The latest assay results from a further eight holes include 40 metres at 0.20% nickel, 0.04% copper and 0.02% cobalt from 56 metres to the end of the hole.

Other results are 17 metres from 64 metres at 0.09% nickel, 0.01% copper and 0.02% cobalt, and 16 metres from 56 metres at 0.05% nickel, 0.05% copper and 0.01% cobalt.

Results from other holes designed to test other interesting aeromagnetic and gravity features at Area D are pending.

The recent drill holes and previously reported holes have further defined the extent of the nickel-copper anomalism over the favourable olivine-bearing gabbronorite intrusive.

Assessing Area D data

Legend is now carrying out a full geological and geochemical assessment of the Area D aircore drilling program.

The review of aircore drilling data and geophysics will help determine the next steps at Area D.

Wilson said: "Our focus is now to review, with our consultants and joint venture partner, the drilling data from the last eight months of work.

“This will be integrated with the geophysical data collected earlier in the project to determine how we proceed from here.

"It is important that we tap all available resources to ensure the best contemporary information from the region is fed into this process."

Legend is also about to start a regional aircore program over selected targets in the south of the Rockford project.

<![CDATA[News - Legend Mining’s nickel-copper-cobalt results continue to provide Nova-Bollinger comparisons ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/199535/legend-minings-nickel-copper-cobalt-results-continue-to-provide-nova-bollinger-comparisons-199535.html Legend Mining Limited’s (ASX:LEG) ongoing Rockford project nickel-copper-cobalt results continue to provide comparisons to Independence Group’s (ASX:IGO) nearby Nova-Bollinger deposit.

The company has received further strong results from aircore drilling at Area D of Rockford, which is in the Fraser Range, around 120 kilometres from Nova-Bollinger.

30-metre mineralised intercept

Best result from the latest 12 aircore holes in the ongoing program is 30 metres at 0.31% nickel, 0.03% copper and 0.04% cobalt from 78 metres to the end of hole.

Within this was an 8-metre intersection from 98 metres that assayed 0.45% nickel, 0.03% copper and 0.04% cobalt.

Legend’s managing director Mark Wilson said: “These new assays extend the footprint of the nickel-copper anomalism at the third mineralised intrusive body to greater than 100 metres.

“They essentially reaffirm that the prospectivity for nickel-copper-cobalt deposits at not only Area D but the whole of our Rockford project and the entire Fraser Zone is considerably enhanced.”

READ: Legend Mining shares continue ascendency as scale of Rockford evolves

Recent results have been driving share prices higher and Legend last week reached a new 12-month high of 4.6 cents.

The 12 holes were following up anomalous nickel-copper results in a previous drill hole and targeting other aeromagnetic and gravity features in the eastern part of Area D.

Results, which also include 16 metres at 0.22% nickel, 0.02% copper and 0.02% cobalt from 92 metres, support the third intrusive body previously identified in this area.

Next step is geophysics

Wilson said: “The next step once we’ve completed this aircore drilling is to do the geophysics, which tends to look deeper into the fresh rock to develop targets for RC and diamond drilling.”

Legend’s ground in the Fraser Range is highly prospective for an ore body similar to Nova-Bollinger.

There is geological evidence to draw parallels between the mineralisation being targeted by Legend and that present at Nova-Bollinger.

Future programs

- Commence regional aircore program over selected targets in southern Rockford project.

- Full geological and geochemical assessment of Area D aircore drilling program.

- Integrate results of Area D geophysical review with geological/geochemical dataset to assist in the planning of future programs.

Driving the valuation of the company are exploration results which continue to map out the potential scale of the Rockford Project in the Fraser Range of Western Australia.

The importance of today’s new assays and petrology results are that they confirm anomalous nickel-copper geochemistry in olivine gabbronorite in third intrusive body at Area D.

Aircore highlights include:

- RKAC253: 21 metres at 0.34% nickel, 0.05% copper and 0.04% cobalt from 64 metres; and
- RKAC255: 37 metres at 0.25% nickel, 0.03% copper and 0.04% cobalt from 78 metres.

Both holes ended in mineralisation, adding potential at depth.

Earlier in the month, when there was confirmation of a second mineralised intrusive body, results included: 19 metres at 0.23% nickel, 0.33% copper and 0.02% cobalt from 52 metres with the hole ending in mineralisation.

Mark Wilson, managing director, commented:

"These new results confirming a third mineralised intrusive body, support Legend’s earlier statements that Area D is prospective for multiple such intrusions.

"Also the anomalous nickel-copper assays in holes 249/252/253 some 800 metres east of holes 167/230 add a dimension to that previously identified intrusion.

"We see these and other recent results as demonstrating the prospectivity for nickel-copper-cobalt deposits at not only Area D but the whole of our Rockford Project and indeed the entire Fraser Zone."

“These are outstanding outcomes from our ongoing aircore drilling program.

“The further confirmation of a second mineralised intrusive around holes 167 and 230 is another positive outcome and supports the premise of multiple prospective intrusions at Area D”.

95 holes completed so far

Aircore drilling at Area D is targeting aeromagnetic and gravity anomalies is ongoing with a total of 95 holes now completed.

These recent assays show disseminated magmatic sulphides over a 100+ metre wide zone in the same host rock as the Nova-Bollinger deposit.

The anomalous nickel-copper-cobalt results associated with gabbronorite host rock occur over 300+ metres in strike length.

Importantly, drill assays further confirm the presence of a nickel-copper sulphide bearing mafic or ultramafic intrusive body at Area D.

Petrology has confirmed a second gabbronorite intrusion around drill hole RKAC167.

Drilling ongoing at Area D to find additional intrusive bodies

Aircore drilling is ongoing at Area D aimed at identifying additional mineralised intrusive bodies.

A full review of all moving and fixed loop electromagnetic (EM) data at Area D has commenced.

The review will incorporate previous reverse circulation and diamond drilling data along with aircore drilling information from the current program.

The objective of this review is to design further innovative EM surveys which are nominally scheduled for the September quarter.

Legend’s ground in the Fraser Range area of Western Australia is highly prospective for an ore body similar to Independence Group’s (ASX:IGO) Nova-Bollinger project.

The company has commenced an extensive follow-up 100-hole, 8,000-metre aircore drilling program at its Area D prospect.

Exploration activities completed during 2017 at Area D comprised a broad-spaced aircore drill program aimed at testing a range of aeromagnetic and gravity features interpreted as possible mafic/ultramafic intrusions.

2017 suggested postcode was right

The program comprised 41 holes over about 3,500 metres with drilling undertaken at 400-metre intervals along a 7.6-kilometre east-west baseline.

Highly anomalous nickel, copper and cobalt returns were recorded.

From a geological perspective, petrological examination of the bottom of hole sample from one drill hole (RKAC151) provided some insightful information.

The host rock was identified as a weathered olivine-rich gabbronorite orthocumulate, the host rock for nickel-copper mineralisation at the Nova deposit.

More than just a ‘nearology’ story

Consequently, this isn’t just a ‘nearology’ story, there is geological evidence to draw parallels between the mineralisation being targeted by Legend and that present at Nova Bollinger.

But evidence of this has strengthened even further in 2018.

Infill aircore drilling was planned adjacent to drill hole RKAC151 and another drill hole (RKAC167) to determine the extent of the anomalous nickel-copper-cobalt footprint.

Same address, same shareholder

Not only is Legend sharing a similar address to Nova-Bollinger, but the very man who was behind Sirius Resources when it struck the jackpot has a substantial interest in Rockford.

A doyen of the Australian mining industry, particularly in terms of finding new deposits, Mark Creasy, had a 35% stake in Sirius Resources, the developer of Nova-Bollinger.

Creasy is Legend’s joint venture partner in the project with a stake of 30%.

Creasy sees long-term value in Nova-Bollinger type discoveries

Of course, Sirius Resources was subsequently taken over by Independence Group in a cash and shares acquisition valued at $1.8 billion.

This saw Creasy transform his 35% stake in Sirius to an 18.6% shareholding in Independence Group at the time of the takeover.

This not only made him the largest single shareholder in Independence Group but in doing so, it demonstrated a show of confidence in the long-term future of Nova-Bollinger.

Similarly, Creasy has demonstrated his confidence in Legend’s assets and its management team.

Creasy himself, and through a range of indirect interests, has a 28% stake in Legend Mining, as well as having a 30% stake in the Rockford joint venture.

Early drilling results trigger share price rerating

Setting aside Legend’s high-profile territory and its well-credentialled personnel and stakeholders, 2018 couldn’t have started better for the group.

Outstanding results have been returned from Area D, serving to validate earlier comments made by managing director Mark Wilson who said: “We feel we have found the haystack and are now working our way to the needle.”

Promising aircore assays, along with information regarding petrology that fits the mould has provided additional confidence.

A feature of the first three drill holes of the current Area D aircore drilling program was hole RKAC183, assaying 14 metres at 0.37% nickel, 0.43% copper and 0.03% cobalt from 72 metres to end of hole.

A watershed moment for Legend

Commenting on this, Wilson said: “The results from hole RKAC183 are a watershed moment for Legend at its Rockford project and for exploration in the Fraser Range in general.

“The tenor of the nickel, copper and cobalt assays along with the presence of sulphides, make this hole appreciably better than RKAC151, 200 metres to the south.”

Remember, it was RKAC151 that caused a considerable amount of excitement in 2017, so much so that the company’s shares nearly doubled from 1.6 cents to hit a 12-month high of 3 cents.

The news was released on December 11, 2017, and you can see the share price response below.

The April share price spike was triggered by the release of results from RKAC183.

The geological features of the host rock, once again, are favourable for the presence of nickel and copper mineralisation, similar to the Nova-Bollinger deposit.

Wilson sees parallels with Nova

Wilson said that this was potentially the most significant published result since the Nova discovery hole in the Fraser Range.

The weathered sulphide supported by the anomalous nickel and copper assays in RKAC167 support Legend’s belief that the greater Area D has the potential of containing a number of mineralised intrusions.

While there have been many companies claiming to have stumbled on the next Nova-Bollinger, Proactive Investors has sifted through the history books to see how close the comparisons are for Legend shareholders.

Making a like-for-like comparison with Nova-Bollinger

Firstly, it is essential to draw like-for-like comparisons with the type of drilling - the latest results from Legend are from aircore drilling.

When the then owner of the Nova-Bollinger deposit, Sirius Resources (at that stage referred to as ‘The Eye’ prospect) released its aircore results in May 2012, the best return was 8 metres at 1% nickel and 0.1% copper (see SFRA0468).

The other two prominent results were 7 metres at 0.49% nickel and 0.1% copper (SFRA0450), and 3 metres at 0.45% nickel and 0.1% copper (SFRA0457).

Nickel up there while copper streets ahead

In comparing these results with RKAC183, the first aspect to bear in mind is that the width of Legend’s intersection is almost twice the size of the best two results from Nova-Bollinger.

While the nickel from the Nova-Bollinger 8-metre intersection was very high at 1.06%, the 0.37% nickel at RKAC183 was still not far shy of the two other intersections.

A standout feature for Legend is the much higher copper grades.

The best of the Nova-Bollinger copper grades featured in the top three results were 0.12% compared with 0.43% copper at RKAC183.

Sirius responds aggressively

However, harking back to Sirius’ response to these results, the company moved quickly to reverse circulation drilling.

What Sirius deemed as the reverse circulation ‘discovery hole’ (SFRC0024) was drilled only 200 metres from aircore hole SFRA0494 which graded 2 metres at 0.58% nickel and 0.01% copper.

The discovery hole returned 4 metres at 3.8% nickel and 1.42% copper.

It was this result that sent the company’s shares from 5.7 cents on the previous trading day to 45 cents when the news was announced on July 26, 2012.

In the ensuing three weeks, its shares increased three-fold to $1.49, and in the next three months more than doubled again to $3.20, effectively a gain of 5,500% in just over four months.

Future drilling programs

As Legend strives to follow in the footsteps of Sirius, it will be undertaking further infill drilling to define the extent of the anomalous nickel-copper-cobalt footprint around holes RKAC183 and RKAC167.

The company will also be conducting additional drilling to assess other aeromagnetic and gravity features at Area D, particularly targeting mafic and ultramafic bodies.

Wilson said: “The results of this drilling program, which will take several months to complete, will assist in the selection of priority locations for Legend’s innovative moving loop electromagnetic surveys (MLTEM).

“The MLTEM surveys will identify the deeper targets for RC/Diamond drilling later this year.

“The deeper drilling is the potential discovery phase for Legend.”

<![CDATA[News - Legend Mining expands nickel, copper and cobalt sampling method at Rockford project ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/191801/legend-mining-expands-nickel-copper-and-cobalt-sampling-method-at-rockford-project-191801.html Legend Mining Limited (ASX:LEG) is about to start drilling for nickel, copper and cobalt mineralisation in Area D of its Rockford project in the Fraser Range of Western Australia.

The 100-hole aircore program for circa 8,000 metres will follow-up highly anomalous nickel-copper results obtained in two aircore holes drilled in November 2017.

It will also test additional aeromagnetic and gravity features with broad-spaced drill traverses planned.

“Working our way to the needle”

Mark Wilson, managing director, said: “We are pleased to start our 2018 field season leveraging off the success of the aircore work late last year.

“We feel we have found the haystack and are now working our way to the needle.”

READ: Legend Mining confirms accuracy of nickel, copper and cobalt methods

Legend has decided to proceed with the program after confirming that its 4-metre composite sampling methodology provides an accurate indication of nickel, copper and cobalt mineralisation.

Three months to complete

The new program is scheduled to begin by mid-March and is expected to take up to three months to complete.

Aircore drilling last November returned results of 47 metres at 0.30% nickel, 0.11% copper and 0.03% cobalt from 64 metres, and 10 metres at 0.09% nickel, 0.09% copper and 0.01% cobalt from 56 metres.

Elevated copper assays

The elevated copper assays directly associated with the anomalous nickel make these intersections compelling follow-up targets.

Infill aircore drilling will be carried out 200 metres north, south, east and west of the two November 2017 drill holes to determine the extent of the anomalous footprint.

Additional step-out drilling will be undertaken pending favourable results from these holes.

The program is targeting Area D at the Rockford project.

The broad-spaced drill traverses will be carried out at 400 metre spacing in the wider Area D region.

Infill drilling to 200 metres will then be undertaken if required.

Results to assist in survey design

Results from this program will be used to assist the design of follow-up MLTEM surveys, ultimately aimed at identifying conductors for reverse circulation/diamond drill testing.

Mark Wilson, managing director, said: “These results are essentially a repeat of the earlier assays.

“They confirm that the 4 metre composite sampling methodology that we are employing gives an accurate indication of nickel, copper and cobalt numbers.”

The resampling has also confirmed the presence of anomalous copper values associated with the nickel, which reinforces the prospectivity of Area D.

The 1 metre results have identified several narrower intervals with higher grades.

Best individual samples were 1 metre at 0.47% nickel from 99 metres with associated 0.18% copper and 0.04% cobalt, and 1 metre at 0.17% nickel from 60 metres with associated 0.17% copper and 0.02% cobalt.

Further aircore drilling

After proving this method, the company will proceed with further aircore drilling at Area D.

Wilson said: “The new aircore program is designed to investigate the anomalous geochemical footprint around the two holes and more interesting magnetic/gravity features at Area D.”

$1.3 million R&D refund

Legend has received a $1.3 million R&D refund on its 2017 tax return.

The experimental innovative moving loop electromagnetic programs are ongoing and are expected to result in further R & D refunds.

Near-term work program

Legend’s near term exploration program at Rockford includes:

• Infill aircore drilling adjacent to the two drill holes to determine the extent of the anomalous nickel-copper-cobalt footprint;
• Complete final 20 holes of 2017 aircore program at Area D;
• Complete additional drill traverses over other aeromagnetic and gravity features at Area D;
• Results from the aircore drilling will be used to assist design of follow-up MLTEM surveying; and
• Further evaluation of previously identified EM conductors at Areas D, J, Q and U.

During the December quarter the company completed a 41 hole aircore drilling program for 3,494 metres at Area D of Rockford.

Best results were 47 metres at 0.29% nickel, 0.12% copper and 0.03% cobalt from 64 metres, and 10 metres at 0.09% nickel, 0.10% copper and 0.01% cobalt from 56 metres.

These were the best results from Rockford since Legend began project exploration work in September 2015.

Similar tenor to Nova

The assays in one of these two holes are a similar tenor to the aircore assays reported by Sirius Resources prior to discovery of the Nova ore body in July 2012.

A subsequent petrology report has identified the host rock of the anomalism in this hole as an olivine-rich gabbronorite, which is also the host rock of the Nova ore body, now owned by Independence Group NL (ASX:IGO).

Legend is awaiting the results of assays from individual 1 metre samples as well an analysis of the iron-rich clays and goethitic materials.

This will provide a better understanding of the character of the nickel-copper-cobalt anomalism to assist in detailed planning of the next field programs.

Mark Wilson, managing director, said: “The petrographic identification of an olivine rich gabbronorite with associated anomalous nickel-copper-cobalt is good news for Legend shareholders.

“This is the host rock for the Nova ore body. The anomalous nickel-copper assays from drillhole RKAC167, which is 1.6 kilometres from hole RKAC151, starts to identify the potential scale of this anomalous footprint.”

Olivine-rich host rock identified

Legend has received the petrology from drill hole samples and final assay results for 20 holes from the recent aircore drilling at Area D of its Rockford Project.

The petrological examination of the samples has identified weathered olivine-rich host rocks.

Importantly, olivine-rich rocks are favourable for hosting nickel-copper mineralisation. The significance of the host rock has been further enhanced by the assay results.

The petrology has also identified minor amounts of a variety of copper minerals including chalcocite, digenite, chalcopyrite and thin veinlets of native copper, thus explaining the anomalous copper assays.

Further work is planned to investigate the anomalous nickel-copper-cobalt drill result with regard to whether it is the result of in-situ weathering of sulphides or supergene enrichment.

There are several similar untested magnetic features throughout Area D, interpreted as possible intrusives, and require follow up exploration.

Both anomalous nickel and copper results, as well as an earlier petrology report provide positive indications of a mineralised system.

One of the better hits was a relatively thick 47-metre intersection of nickel, copper and cobalt, featuring 0.29% nickel, 0.12% copper and 0.03% cobalt.

The assays were taken from a 21 hole program drilled at 400-metre intervals along a 7.6-kilometre target.

Additional bottom of hole samples from this aircore program will be submitted for petrographic analysis to assist interpretation once full assay results are received.

<![CDATA[News - Legend Mining commences drilling in Fraser Range ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/186771/legend-mining-commences-drilling-in-fraser-range-186771.html Legend Mining (ASX:LEG) commenced aircore drilling over the weekend targeting nickel-copper mineralisation at its Rockford Project in the Fraser Range of Western Australia.

The drilling program will comprise 65 holes for ~5,000 metres and concentrate on multiple targets at Area D and the immediate surrounds.

The exploration focus has returned to Area D following a full review of petrology results from diamond drilling completed in July 2016.

The review revealed positive factors and indicate that Area D could potentially be in a favourable environment for nickel-copper mineralisation.

Drilling is estimated to take 3-4 weeks to complete with assay results expected 4 weeks later.

Previous exploration at Area D

Previous exploration at Area D involved extensive moving and fixed loop electromagnetic (EM) surveying with eight conductors (D1-D8) identified.

Seven of these conductors were tested with reverse circulation and diamond drilling.

This work covered an area of 3x2 kilometres centred around a discrete gravity high.

The proposed aircore programme will extend the coverage to an area of 7x5 kilometres and test several aeromagnetic lows and highs, as well as the flanks of the gravity high.

Objectives of the drilling

The drilling will provide valuable information on Area D’s geology and how the rock profiles change with depth.

It will also provide data to enable selection and prioritisation of areas for the next phase of high power EM surveys.

The Fraser Range hosts the world-class Nova-Bollinger discovery

The Rockford project is located in the globally renowned Fraser Range district of Western Australia and covers an area of 2,792 square kilometres.

The Fraser Range is host to the nickel-copper sulphide Nova-Bollinger deposit.

Rockford covers a strike length of 100 kilometres over a regional gravity high ridge associated with dense mafic/ultramafic intrusive rocks of the Fraser Zone.

The Nova-Bollinger deposit, which lies within the Fraser Zone, is situated on a similar tenor gravity ridge to that of the Rockford project.
