The ongoing metallurgical test work is being undertaken by Hazen Research of Golden, Colorado, and to date has demonstrated high lithium recoveries of more than 95% with short residence times using a conventional sulphuric acid leach.

The most recent tests tested two aspects:

The potential to reduce acid consumption by recycling the leachate; and The potential for beneficiation of the run of mine ore by separation of a specific size fraction. READ: Jindalee Resources raising up to $1.05 million to accelerate US lithium exploration

The recycled leachate experiments involved taking the leachate from an individual leaching experiment, adding additional acid to make it up to the original acid concentration and leaching a fresh batch of ore.

Acid consumption for the second leaching experiment was 450 kilograms of hydrogen sulphate per tonne of ore compared with the average acid consumption in previous lithium recoveries of more than 95% of 530 kilograms.

This represents a saving of 15% on average acid consumption or saving of 11% on the previous best result of 506 kilograms of acid per tonne of ore.

The company believes this is substantial given that recent studies on similar lithium deposits in the US identified sulphuric acid is a major cost component and that a combination of high lithium extraction rates with lower acid consumption results in a reduction of capital and operating costs.

Attrition scrubbing tests on a portion of the same sample demonstrated that the minus 10µm fraction of the attritioned material assayed 0.34% lithium and contained 78% of the lithium in about 50% of the weight.

The implication of this work is that most of the lithium is contained within 50% of the run of mine ore and a simply industry standard process could be used to reject a large proportion of the ore at an early stage of any process.

Additional attrition scrubbing tests and ore characterisation work is underway to understand this better and potentially achieve even better outcomes.

Drill program to start soon

With relevant approvals and contractors in place, the company’s 2019 drill program is set to begin in the second week of July.

An initial program comprising six core holes has been planned with the aim of locating higher-grade zones, supporting resource estimation work, extending existing mineralised zones at depth and testing for further mineralised zones below the limit of current drilling.

Assays from the program are expected in late August.

Back in April the company also received lithium extraction metallurgy indicating that more than 90% of available lithium reported to the leach solution in four hours.

Jindalee managing director Pip Darvall said at the time: “The testing we’ve been doing has all been about how amenable the material is for the lithium to be leached out of the rock.

“We’ve very pleased with the results … the testing has shown that yes, it is relatively easy to extract lithium and testing is continuing.”

It is run by Pip Darvall, a geologist of 32 years who has more than 12 years of experience in executive and senior roles.

Darvall was an exploration and resource geology manager at Atlas Iron Limited (ASX:AGO) before it was taken over by a subsidiary of Gina Rinehart’s Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd, Redstone Corporation Ltd.

The managing director and CEO later became MD and chief consultant at Epi Space P/L. Darvall previously held senior geologist roles at two Atlas buy-ups, Warwick Resources Ltd (ASX:WRK) and FerrAus Ltd (ASX:FRS).

What does Jindalee Resources own?

The key assets are the McDermitt Lithium Project in the US state of Oregon and the Widgiemooltha project near gold and nickel mines in Western Australia’s Goldfields.

Jindalee’s sediment-hosted lithium project McDermitt is 25 kilometres west of McDermitt township on the Nevada-Oregon border.

The project is also about 30 kilometres from Lithium Americas Corp’s (TSE:LAC) (NYSE:LAC) Thacker Pass Lithium Project.

On Tuesday, Jindalee revealed lithium from McDermitt project had leaching recoveries of up to 97% during recent test work.

The recoveries came after a four-hole vertical diamond-drilling campaign in September 2018 where holes were drilled to about 90-metre depths to improve understanding of the thickness and grade of lithium mineralisation gained in surface sampling.

These results were used for an exploration target labelled “conservative” which highlights McDermitt project’s potential to host one of the largest lithium deposits in the US.

The lower end of the exploration target range (ETR) is 160-780 million tonnes at 1300-1600ppm lithium and this includes a high-grade ETR of 20-80 million tonnes at 2100-2600ppm.

This high-grade target is within one discrete horizon.

Jindalee has another lithium project in the US, Clayton North, and has set investment criteria for lithium projects which it sees as being met by lithium-bearing clays.

The company’s criteria includes: mineralisation from surface that is flat lying to shallowly dipping with low to non-existent stripping ratios; soft and easy to drill, with low-cost mining potential for rapid exploration progress; project economics of advanced clay projects indicating costs for lithium compound production are highly competitive; and adequate scale potential to support a long-mine life.

Clayton North is 23 kilometres north of the only active producing lithium operation in the US at Albermarle Corporation’s (NYSE:ALB) (FRA:AMC) Silver Peak in Nevada.

Silver Peak started its life as a silver mine and later became a lithium brine well field used to produce lithium carbonate.

Jindalee also holds other projects in a portfolio that takes in the US, Western Australia and Tasmania as the company explores the way forward for the secondary projects.

Widgiemooltha, near the historic mining town of Widgiemooltha in WA, lies between Kambalda and Norseman in the Goldfields-Esperance region, near pegmatite-related mineralisation prospective for lithium, caesium, tantalum and tin.

The company had $1.4 million cash at the end of 2018 and is expected to file its next quarterly report to market by the end of April 2019.

Expected spending for the March quarter of 2019 was $355,000, with $185,000 budgeted for exploration and evaluation.

“We were already really positive about (McDermitt Lithium Project), we released that exploration target range last year that was pretty substantial and that made us think that, ‘look, this is a great opportunity to grow the project even further’,” managing director and CEO Pip Darvall said.

“The nature of the deposit that we’re chasing is it’s a very flat lying, very continuous style of deposit that we’ve seen in the drilling so far.

“For us, it was a bit of a no-brainer to expand the scale of it through adding that ground and where we could follow the actualised mineralised units, you can see them trending onto that ground.

“It was … a simple way of expanding our footprint and giving us future options to make the deposit a lot larger.”

In September 2018 Jindalee completed four vertical diamond holes to an average depth of 90 metres drilled in order to gain a better understanding of the thickness and grade of lithium mineralisation recognised from previous surface sampling.

This information was used in the estimation of an exploration target, which demonstrated that the McDermitt project has the potential to host one of the largest lithium deposits in the USA.

Test work and results

Sulphuric acid leaching at various experimental conditions was conducted in February and March 2019 with the most recent test involving the addition of sulphuric acid in a heated and agitated environment.

More than 90% of the available lithium reported to the leach solution in four hours, and 97% lithium extraction was achieved after 11 hours while consuming 506 kilograms of sulphuric acid per tonne of ore.

The high recoveries achieved in these early-stage tests provide further encouragement for Jindalee to continue to progress work at McDermitt and compare very favourably with those published for similar sediment-hosted lithium projects.

The company will undertake additional tests aimed at optimising the leach parameters and reducing sulphuric acid consumption while producing a leachate amenable to subsequent processing.

This testing will include beneficiation of the ore, removal of acid robbing phases such as carbonates, changes to the amounts and timing of heating and acid additions and alternate leach pathways.

A US geological survey included lithium in its June 2018 list of minerals critical to the US economic and national security.

Key points from the submission include:

The US is currently unprepared for the rapid growth in demand for Lithium chemicals and battery materials with 92% of lithium chemicals imported in 2018;

There is the potential for the US to develop its own supplies of domestic lithium; and

The rate of funding to build new lithium mines and downstream processing needs to double

Ongoing work program

A review of historic and current lithium leaching test work at Mcdermitt has been completed and an initial leach test work utilising sulphuric acid is underway.

A range of parameters will be tested as the basis for further optimisation work to follow.

Reverse circulation drilling is planned to begin in May-June 2019 to rapidly test the broad areas of the project.

Flat-lying nature

Broad-scale mapping of the project area has confirmed the flat-lying nature and identified the excellent exposure that allows individual marker beds to be traced over large distances, both on the ground during mapping and in aerial photography.

Jindalee said that estimation of an ETR in less than six months from the grant of the McDermitt claims was highly encouraging and the company would proceed with further work, including:

- Initial metallurgical test work focusing on beneficiation opportunities, characterisation of the mineralogy of the lithium hosts, and leaching tests; - Permitting for further drilling in the 2019 field season to locate higher grade zones, support resource estimation work, extend existing mineralised zones at depth, and test for further mineralised zones below the limit of current drilling; and - Additional confirmatory SG determinations via the wax immersion method. ETR methodology

External consultants H & S Consultants Pty Ltd were able to correlate the individual sedimentary units between drill holes as the basis for estimation of an ETR.

Tonnages estimated for the ETRs were calculated using an average dry specific gravity (SG) figure of 1.5, based on volume and mass measurements on nine sections of core from the drill program.

The average SG used by Jindalee is lower than SG values used for other US sediment-hosted lithium deposits.

The potential quantity and grade of the exploration target is conceptual in nature.

There has been insufficient exploration to estimate a mineral resource and it is uncertain if further exploration will result in the estimation of a resource.

Lithium in demand

Lithium is highly sought after for a range of industrial uses and in particular energy storage where it is a vital component of most popular battery electrolytes and electrodes.

A high charge and power to weight ratio makes lithium ideal for applications where weight is a significant consideration, such as in electric vehicles, mobile phones, hand tools, drones and robots.

Lithium is found in pegmatites, brines and sediments.

Positive characteristics

The lithium-bearing sediments at the McDermitt project have several positive characteristics including:

- Mineralisation is from or close to surface, flat-lying to shallowly dipping with low stripping ratios; - Easy to drill, allowing for rapid exploration progress; - Contained within soft rocks suggesting low-cost mining; - The economics of advanced sediment projects indicate the costs to produce lithium compounds used in battery manufacture are highly competitive; and - An adequate scale potential to support a long mine life. ]]>

Highlighted new lithium intersections unveiled today are: 30 metres at 1884 ppm from 44 metres, including 14 metres at 2531 ppm from 44 metres; and 16 metres at 1910 ppm from 38 metres, including 8 metres at 2513 ppm from 38 metres.

Jindalee said work was underway to “integrate data” from the project area to assist with preparation of exploration targets and help prioritise further work at the site about 30 kilometres from Lithium Americas Corp's (TSE:LAC) (NYSE:LAC) (FRA:WUC1) Thacker Pass Lithium Project.

Thacker Pass is a large-scale, feasibility-study-stage battery-grade lithium carbonate project in northern Nevada forecast to produce 60,000 tonnes per annum from proven and probable reserves of 3.1 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent grading 3,283 ppm lithium with a low strip ratio of 1.6:1 waste-to-ore.

The neighbouring open pit mine project is tipped to have a 46-year mine life for an after-tax US$2.6 billion net present value, at an 8% discount rate, and after-tax internal rate of return of 29.3%, as profiled in a June 2018 pre-feasibility study.

West Perth company Jindalee’s 19.6 square kilometre project includes 242 placer claims on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management about 25 kilometres west of the town of McDermitt.

The drill holes from the debut campaign were completed in September 2018 and drilled to a depth of 90 metres.

Jindalee said today, “Drilling confirmed flat-lying, lithium bearing sediments up to 92 metres thick, including tuffaceous sandstones, siltstones and mudstones.

“The lithium enriched sedimentary package remains open at depth, with basement not reached in the recent program.”

<![CDATA[News - Jindalee Resources drills thicker intercept of lithium at McDermitt Project in the US ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/208183/jindalee-resources-drills-thicker-intercept-of-lithium-at-mcdermitt-project-in-the-us-208183.html Jindalee Resources Ltd (ASX:JRL) has received further positive lithium assays from its initial drill program at the McDermitt Project near the Nevada-Oregon border in the US.

Four vertical diamond holes were drilled to an average depth of 90 metres to gain an understanding of the thickness and grade of lithium mineralisation previously encountered in surface sampling.

Results from the first hole indicated the presence of three distinct zones of lithium mineralisation.

The additional assays just received from the second hole show considerably thicker and higher grades of lithium mineralisation up to 22 metres at 2187 ppm lithium, including 6 metres at 3113 ppm lithium and 12 metres at 2781 ppm lithium.

The average grade of 1415 ppm lithium over the entire 80.4 metres of core recovered from the second hole highlights the potential scale of the system at McDermitt.

These broad zones of lithium mineralisation offer encouragement that the McDermitt Project has the potential to host similar grades and thicknesses of lithium mineralisation to those reported for Lithium Americas’ (TSE:LAC) Thacker Pass Project along strike to the south.

The Thacker Pass Project hosts the highest grade of all known sediment hosted lithium deposits in the US and is one of the most advanced, having recently completed a pre-feasibility study.

McDermitt Project

Jindalee’s McDermitt Project comprises 242 placer mineral claims covering about 4840 acres. The project is located on 100% owned tenure, with no royalty overhang.

Increasing domestic demand and energy security goals make the US an ideal location for development of lithium projects.

Company personnel and contractors are on site with six HQ3 core holes will be drilled to test the thickness and grade of lithium-bearing sediments.

These were mapped and sampled in previous fieldwork.

Drilling on the first hole, MDD-01, is at 30 metres depth and will advance to an estimated total depth of 100 metres.

Minimal overburden

The hole has intersected minimal overburden over flat lying, finely laminated sediments, which were light grey coloured, indicating oxidisation, in the upper part of the hole, becoming darker green to dark brown downhole.

Core recovery to date has been excellent, typically 100%.

Assay results are expected from mid-October, assuming the expected drilling productivity and no other impediments.

Jindalee also has a large and growing land package in the Widgiemooltha district of Western Australia’s Goldfields that is prospective for gold, nickel and lithium.

Bolt-on acquisitions

Following completion of a comprehensive regional targeting exercise a number of minor bolt-on acquisitions have recently been made to further consolidate ground in the district.

The company is determining the best way to monetise this highly prospective and rare landholding in one of the world’s premier mining districts.

Jindalee has received approaches from parties active in the immediate area, and other groups attracted by the district’s history of discovery across several commodities, and availability of infrastructure and processing options.

At June 30, 2018, Jindalee held cash and marketable securities worth $5 million which, combined with the company’s tight capital structure of only 34.9 million shares on issue, provide a strong base for leverage into new opportunities.

The testing has demonstrated the potential for a high-grade product to be produced, but significant additional work will be required to confirm the nature and scale of the opportunity.

Work supervised by industry expert

Jindalee commenced the test work in June 2017, using drill core sourced from programs undertaken by the previous operator.

Analysis was conducted at the ALS Laboratories in Burnie, with intermediate steps undertaken at ALS Perth.

The work was supervised by metallurgist and magnetite industry expert John Canterford of Process Technologies Australia.

Potential product confirmed

The testwork consisted of three components: calcination; physical beneficiation; and determination of the bond ball work index.

All the data generally indicated that a chemically reactive calcine could in principle be produced.

However, a target magnesia content of plus-95% was not routinely achieved, mainly because of the lack of any physical beneficiation steps and the mineralogical characteristics of the feedstock.

Flotation was able to enhance the quality caustic calcined magnesia, but the results also demonstrated that a higher silica/magnesite selectivity is required to ensure overall magnesium recovery in the end product is not compromised.

Testing also determined bond ball work indices, data that would be required to specify the design criteria of any future comminution circuit.

Jindalee is looking for a suitable partner with technical and marketing expertise to assist in further developing the project and a potential high-grade magnesia product.

<![CDATA[News - Jindalee Resources Ltd snaps up Australia’s third largest magnesite deposit ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/157170/jindalee-resources-ltd-snaps-up-australias-third-largest-magnesite-deposit-68772.html Jindalee Resources Ltd (ASX:JRL) has gained ownership of the third largest inventory of magnesite in Australia according to government statistics in north west of Tasmania.

Jindalee applied for an exploration licence covering the historic Arthur River and Lyons River magnesite deposits, located 55 kilometres south west of Burnie.

Magnesite was first discovered in the area in 1925 with exploration in the 40 years from 1970 to 2010 undertaken by companies including Mineral Holdings Australia, CRAE (now Rio Tinto).

The inferred resource was estimated at 25 million tonnes at 42.4% MgO for the Arthur River deposit in 2012 by Beacon Hill Resources Plc.

Providing upside there was no resource estimated for the Lyons River deposit.

An earlier scoping study on the Arthur River deposit, projected a 292,000 dry tonne per annum operation producing an average of 100,000dtpa of caustic calcined magnesia (CCM) with an average grade of 95% MgO over a mine life of 17 years.

The study, which included the construction of a calcining plant, indicated a positive NPV.

Magnesite is a primary source of magnesia, used in agriculture, mineral processing, paper manufacture and refractory industries. Magnesia is also used to produce magnesium, a light metal widely used in the aerospace, automotive and electronics industries.

Jindalee will revise the previous scoping study based on updated project costs and magnesia prices, and will also work towards establishing a JORC compliant resource estimate.

The company is well positioned with cash and shares worth $6.4 million and no debt as on 31 March 2016.

The share price has surged as investors twig to the potential of the magnesite project and enterprise value of its cash and liquid assets.

<![CDATA[News - Jindalee Resources encouraged by Yilgangi project gold results ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/157169/jindalee-resources-encouraged-by-yilgangi-project-gold-results-35262.html Jindalee Resources (ASX:JRL) would no doubt be encouraged by drill results received by joint venture partner Renaissance Minerals (ASX:RNS) yesterday at the Hobbes prospect in the eastern goldfields of Western Australia.

Jindalee holds a 20% interest in the Yilgangi project carried to Decision to Mine.

Renaissance drilled seven angled holes on three sections spaced 100 metres apart to confirm the continuity of gold mineralisation previously outlined by Newcrest.

Four holes from the program returned significant downhole supergene gold intersections above a nominal 1g/t cut‐off, including:

- 6m at 2.13g/t gold from 60 metres depth in RYRC001
- 15m at 2.37g/t gold from 38 metres depth in RYRC002
- 6m at 1.57g/t gold from 60m depth in RYRC004
- 10m at 2.47g/t gold from 54m depth in RYRC005

In addition to the supergene intersection, hole RYRC005 also returned a deeper bedrock intercept comprising 20m at 2.47g/t gold from 166 metres depth, and which ended in mineralisation.

These highly encouraging results highlight the potential of the Yilgangi project.

Jindalee originally applied for the Yilgangi tenements in December 2001, targeting large gold deposits associated with major regional structures but concealed by transported cover.

Newcrest farmed into Yilgangi in March 2004 and in the period to June 2012 spent in excess of $4M on exploring the project.

<![CDATA[News - Jindalee Resources to jointly underwrite Alchemy Resources $4.2m capital raising ]]> https://www.proactiveinvestors.com.au/companies/news/157168/jindalee-resources-to-jointly-underwrite-alchemy-resources-42m-capital-raising-24099.html Jindalee Resources (ASX: JRL) will jointly underwrite the $4.2 million rights issue by Alchemy Resources (ASX: ALY).

Jindalee owns 9.8 million shares in Alchemy, and with a company associated with Jindalee chairman Mark Scott, will jointly underwrite Alchemy's 1 for 3 rights issue at $0.13 per share.

Key to this underwriting would be that Alchemy owns an extensive 630 square kilometre landholding in the Bryah Basin, which hosts Sandfire Resources' (ASX: SFR) DeGrussa Copper-Gold Project.

The key DeGrussa geological structures and host units look to continue into Alchemy's ground.

In addition, Alchemy has an Indicated Resource of 246,000 ounces of gold at the Gascoyne Project in the Basin at an average grade of 2.22g/t gold, close to existing processing plants.
