New Zealand Energy Corp. (TSX-V: NZ, OTCQX: NZERF), is an oil and gas company focused on production and exploration in New Zealand’s north island. NZEC recently achieved production from its first discovery well and is producing an average of 550 barrels of high-quality oil per day with approximately US$90 netbacks/barrel. 

NZEC has amassed nearly two million acres of land and a large prospective resource base over five permits on New Zealand’s north island. In the west coast Taranaki Basin, a proven oil and gas district that currently produces ~130,000 BOE per day from 18 fields, NZEC has two permits covering 152,066 net acres. NZEC has achieved production in the Taranaki Basin, plans to complete two delineation wells in Q1-2012 and has six additional targets identified on 3D seismic that the Company will prioritize in 2012. 

NZEC also offers significant exploration potential from its East Coast land package, where the Company controls 1.8 million net acres over three permits. New Zealand’s East Coast Basin has 300 known oil and gas seeps that have been sourced to two shale formations. NZEC has completed two core wells and has started drilling a third core well to collect data and assess the production potential of the shale formations. 

With multiple prospects and an aggressive exploration strategy, NZEC’s long-term goal is to become the largest independent oil and natural gas producer in New Zealand.
