Kanyika Niobium Project

The Kanyika Niobium Project is Globe’s flagship project, and one that was discovered during grassroots exploration in 2006. Currently undergoing a definitive feasibility study, the Project is planned to commence production of ferro-niobium in 2015, a key additive in sophisticated steels.

Kanyika is approximately 150km from the capital of Malawi, Lilongwe, and in the southern part of the Mzimba District. Globe has a permanent office at Kanyika, in addition to its regional headquarters in Lilongwe.

Niobium, in the form of ferro-niobium, will be the main product from Kanyika, with bi-products to include tantalum oxide, uranium oxide and potentially also zircon.

Mount Muambe REE-Fluorite Project

The Mount Muambe REE-Fluorite Project is one of Globe's most exciting opportunities. The Mount Muambe carbonatite crater shows a unique enrichment of valuable heavy rare earth oxides (HREOs) and with the 2011 RC drilling program now complete, the Company looks forward to an onging positive news flow in the early months of 2012.

Mount Muambe is a three to four kilometre diameter carbonatite crater located in the Tete Province of Mozambique. The Project hosts a high-grade inferred fluorite resource of 1.63 Mt @ 19% CaF2 for a contained 310,000t of CaF2. In addition, there are numerous REE prospects within the crater which show potential for substantial zones of both heavy and light rare earth mineralisation. Globe intends to focus its exploration efforts on these REE targets in 2012.

Machinga REE Project

The Machinga REE Project is a joint venture between Globe and Resource Star Limited (ASX: RSL), whereby Globe can earn up to 80% of the Project over a period of time. It currently has earned a 20% interest in the Project.

The Project is located in southern Malawi, near the former capital, Zomba.

In addition to the extremely valuable rare earths, niobium, tantalum and thorium are also present. However, at the present time, insufficient work has been carried out to in order to assess the full economic potential of the Project, as only an initial drill campaign has been carried out, in late 2010.

Yi Shao - Chairman

Appointed as Chairman in April 2011, Yi Shao is a senior economist with significant experience in the resources, transportation and industrial sectors. Also the Director General of ECE, Yi Shao is Chairman to a number of corporations including East China Non-Ferrous Investment Holding Corporation, Australia ECE Nolans Investment Ltd and AO-Zhong International Mineral Resources Pty Ltd.


Mark Sumich - Managing Director

An entrepreneur and co-founder of Globe, Mark has a wealth of managerial, financial and legal expertise. Prior to Globe, Mark held director and senior executive roles with a number of public and/or ASX-listed companies. He has also practised corporate and securities law with Clayton Utz, PricewaterhouseCoopers and other financial institutions.


Shasha Lu, Deputy CEO & Non-Executive Director

Appointed to Globe’s Board on 9 August 2011 as a nominee of ECE, Shasha spends her time between Nanjing, China and Perth, Western Australia. Working closely with Globe’s Managing Director, Shasha is focused on facilitating Globe’s increasing interests in China, encompassing customer, financing, partnering and evaluating investor relationships and opportunities.

Shasha was previously Executive Director and CEO of Hong Kong East China Non-Ferrous Mineral Resources Co Ltd, a subsidiary of ECE. She is also a Non-Executive Director of Arafura Resources Limited (ASX: ARU) and China Africa Resources Plc, an AIM-listed company based in London. Shasha holds an EMBA Degree, a Degree in Medicine and a Masters degree from Nanjing University.


Tian Jingbin - Non-Executive Director

Mr Jingbin Tian is Deputy Director of the Outward Investment Department of ECE. Prior to this he worked with Jiangsu International Tender Company and led a consulting team in the utilities sector for nearly ten years.


Julian Stephens - Non-Executive Director

Julian has over 16 years experience in the exploration and mining sectors and economic-structural geology research fields. Julian was Globe’s Exploration Manager from 2006-2008 before becoming an Executive Director in late 2008.


Peter Stephens - Non-Executive Director

Peter has over 30 years experience and has held senior financial roles within the construction, telcos, banking, corporate treasury, manufacturing and distribution sectors in Australia and Asia-Pacific. Peter is a former independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the audit committee of Grange Resources, an ASX listed iron ore mining company.


William (Bill) Hayden - Non-Executive Director

Bill is a geologist with over 36 years experience in the mineral exploration industry. Bill is currently President of Ivanhoe Philippines, Inc., former President of GoviEx Uranium Inc., and a Non-Executive Director of: Sky Alliance Resources Inc., Ivanplats Ltd, Sunward Resources Ltd and Condoto Platinum NL.


Bradley Wynne - Co. Secretary & CFO

Brad has extensive experience in the mining, oil, gas and engineering industries and is regarded for his expertise in the management and implementation of major mining and construction projects in Australia, Africa, South East Asia and the Middle East. Brad previously held senior financial management positions with companies including Xstrata Zinc, St Barbara Mines and GME Resources.
