Early Roper Bar drill results indicate major iron ore system for Western Desert Resources
Western Desert Resources (ASX:WDR) has announced new drilling results on the Roper Bar iron ore project in the Northern Territory have pointed to a large iron ore system continuing extensively under cover.
The results are from the first drill campaign conducted at Roper Bar by Western Desert Resources and ITOCHU subsidiary, IMEA Exploration and Development of Australia Pty Ltd (IEDA). The project is 30 kilometres west of the Gulf of Carpentaria and 240 kilometres east of the Alice-Darwin rail line.
In the campaign, two lines of drill holes extending for up to two kilometres consistently intersected
ironstone mineralisation under cover.
Assay results have been received from all Reverse Circulation drillholes and significant intersections. In addition, core samples from 5 diamond drill holes have been collected and despatched for beneficiation testwork. Initial results from that testwork are expected early in April.
Best assay results returned included: 4 metres at 60% Fe and 7 metres at 52.2% Fe. There was a continued conformation of low levels of deleterious elements.
