Deltex Medical (LON:DEMG) has set up its first remote trainer account in a hospital in New York State as part of the US roll-out of its blood flow monitoring systems.

The e-learning-based model is cheaper for Deltex as the hospital will implement its own clinical training programmes on oesophageal Doppler monitoring (ODM) with minimal, primarily remote, support.

In the nine other US trainer hospitals already signed up, Deltex has supplied its own trainers to help clinicians understand how best to use its ODM equipment.

Ewan Phillips, Deltex Medical's chief executive, said the new account was an early success for the lower cost model.

"This is the fourth account added to our US platform programme this year and the tenth in total, with the other nine being under our dedicated trainer model.”

Clinicians at the New York State hospital expect to use ODM probe usage to rise to an average of 100 or more within three years compared to 40 currently.

The company aims to roll-out ODM across the whole of the US by 2016.
