Noricum Gold (LON:NMG) has started drilling its second hole at Weissenbachgraben on its Schonberg prospect.

Noricum had problems with its first well, which struggled with the ground conditions, but because of those difficulties this latest hole will not cost it anything. This hole will go down to 200m and target an historic mining zone in south-central Austria.

Previous exploration had highlighted up to eight veins along a 3 km strike and three of these will be the focus of the current drilling campaign.

Noricum has also reopened the Brandegger-Stollen adit and identified at least two parallel zones.

Greg Kuenzel, managing director, said the first hole’s problems had been resolved and the result  it gaining a further drill hole at no further cost.

Initial samples from the re-opened adit would increase the understanding of this area, he added.
