Summit recruits new independent director

The drug development group Summit Corp (LON:SUMM) has appointed Valerie Andrews to the board as a non-executive director.

A lawyer, the 55-year-old was until May this year general counsel for Vertex Pharmaceuticals.  

Before that she was an executive director of licensing for Massachusetts General and The Brigham and Women's Hospitals in Boston, and a partner of the law firm Hill & Barlow.  

Summit chairman Dr Frank Armstrong said: "With her background in the industry, Valerie's input and expertise will prove invaluable in supporting the continued growth of the company."
