Planet Metals completes assay program at Wolfram Camp Tungsten Mine
Wednesday, March 31, 2010
As previously advised by Planet Metals (ASX: PMQ), a drilling program was to be carried out at Wolfram Camp ahead of any decision being made to recommence operations. This program has now been completed with all assay results received and compiled.
A total of 200 holes (4,840m) were drilled at the Wolfram Camp minesite (90km west of Cairns, Qld) between September 2009 and February 2010.
The aim of the program was to infill areas in the existing resource model where there was paucity of drill data and provide additional geological information for an updated resource model.
Best results included: 2m @ 26.3% WO3 and 5.5% Mo from 2m (Hole BP-059); 1m @ 16.7% WO3 and 2.2% Mo from 27m (Hole WCD-044); 2m @ 3.4% WO3 and 0.1% Mo from 13m (Hole WCD-058); 3m @ 2.9% WO3 and 0.04% Mo from 5m (Hole BP-018).
All assay, survey and geological data has been compiled into a database which has been forwarded to Golder Associates to undertake an updated independent resource estimate.
This is expected to be completed by the end of April 2010.
Care and maintenance activities continue at Wolfram Camp as the company continues to evaluate the project with a view to returning it to production.
Planet Metals has identified a number of key modifications which it proposes to implement to improve the performance of the project’s 150,000tpa plant and equipment prior to any decision being made to resume production.
The company also continues to investigate the use of X-ray ore sorting technology to enhance mill feed grade following positive initial results.
