Victoria Oil & Gas (LON:VOG) has reached an important milestone in the commercialisation of its gas field in Doula, Cameroon.

The AIM group’s Gaz du Cameroun subsidiary has now installed gas-fired power generation units at four customer sites.

Three commercial sites have each had one unit installed. Customers are a diary company, a plastic moldings firm and a flour mill.

The fourth site is a Guinness brewery and, here, the company has installed three power units. The Guinness units are still being tied-in, and will be brought online soon, the company said. Meanwhile, a fourth unit is also still due to be installed at the Guinness site later this year.

Prior to the installations, VOG’s customers in Douala were all buying gas for ‘thermal’ uses – i.e. to fire boilers instead of heavy fuel oil. And the installation of the six new power units is the first important step in the expansion of VOG’s commercial operations.

With around 9 megawatts of available power capacity, these six units are expected to see combined gas consumption of 0.75mln cubic feet per day.

"We congratulate GDC Management and its engineers on connecting the first customers with gas for use in electricity generation,” chairman Kevin Foo said.

“The team is doing exceptional work on the ground installing new power equipment into major industrial complexes.

“We shall update the market as soon as the Guinness Gensets are online."
