A former boss of a Caterpillar construction and mining equipment dealer has been appointed to the board of Seeing Machines (LON:SEE) as a non-executive director.

The new boy on the board, Jim Walker, has worked with equipment dealers supplying construction, agriculture, mining, government and marine industries for 44 years.

In 2000 he was appointed managing director of WesTrac, the Caterpillar dealer for Western Australia. Subsequently, he became chief executive officer for WesTrac Pty Ltd, which has Caterpillar dealerships in Western Australia, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and North East China.

He retired from WesTrac in late 2013.

"He is highly respected as a key Australian business leader and brings to us a wealth of knowledge and experience of the resources sector and partnering with Caterpillar and its global dealer network. He will be an invaluable addition to the board as we seek to grow this most important part of our global business," said Seeing Machines’ chairman, Terry Winters.

Listed on AIM, but based in Australia, Seeing Machines signed up WesTrac as a customer of its driver safety system products in March of this year.
