Brumby Resources encouraged by high-grade manganese assay hits at Oakover, WA
Brumby Resources (ASX: BMY) has announced that high-grade manganese assay results have been returned from all surface samples collected within its wholly-owned Oakover Manganese Project during a first-pass field survey. The project is located in East Pilbara, Western Australia.
The collected manganese-bearing samples returned values ranging between 17 and 39% Mn. These samples were collected over previously-defined Landsat and HEM (Heli–Electro Magnetic) targets (refer to ASX release 5 March 2010).
The company said the manganese-prospective target areas, as indicated by these encouraging sample results, occur over an 8 kilometre strike length and are hosted by Balfour Downs Formation sediments.
The Exploration Director for Brumby, John Ikstrums, said today "this is a very encouraging beginning to our work at Oakover, which is an entirely virgin prospect in a most promising area."
Brumby’s Oakover Manganese Project (EL52/1939), covers an area of 104 square kilometers and is located in the southern part of the East Pilbara Manganese Province, approximately 85 kilometres east of Newman.
This Manganese Province contains the producing Woodie Woodie manganese mine and numerous other advanced manganese prospects.
Brumby is planning follow-up work as soon as possible, including a first-stage scout drilling programme scheduled to commence during the first half of 2010, subject to obtaining all statutory approvals.
Brumby Resources shares rose by 4% in early trading today.
