Copper producer Weatherly International (LON:WTI) confirmed that both its Matchless and Otijhase mines are operating.

The firm updated on its Central Operations in Namibia following comments, it said, which appeared in 'The Namibian' today (March 18).

The firm said it had received notice of termination from one of its local mining contractors Shali Mining.

Shali, among other things,  provided operators at the Matchless and Otijhase mines, Weatherly said.

"The company can confirm that neither the Matchless nor Otijhase mine has been shut and both are currently operating," it said in the brief stock exchange statement.
