TNG (ASX: TNG) is focused on the exploration, evaluation and development of a multi-commodity resource portfolio in the Northern Territory and Western Australia. TNG’s main focus is the evaluation and development of its 100%-owned Mount Peake Vanadium-Titanium-Iron Project, located in the highly prospective Arunta Geological Province some 80km north-east of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.
Discovered by TNG in early 2008, the Mount Peake Project comprises a current JORC Indicated Resource of 140 million tonnes grading 0.3% V205, 9% Ti02 and 35% Fe, making it one of the largest of the known vanadium projects in Australia.
TNG nails 54% increase in resources at Sandy Creek
Australian resource company TNG (ASX: TNG) has increased total resources by 54% from 15.9Mt to 24.4Mt at 2.37% zinc, for the Sandy Creek deposit within its 100%-owned Manbarrum Lead-Zinc-Silver Project in the Northern Territory.
Snowden Mining Industry Consultants provided the estimate and integrates TNG’s increased understanding of the Sandy Creek geology and mineralisation.
Numerous additional priority exploration targets have been identified within the field, with the potential to deliver similar-scale deposits to those defined at Sandy Creek and Djibitgun such as Landandi and Browns prospects.
Paul Burton, CEO said today this provided a potential Exploration Target of 80 to 100Mt at a range of 1.8 to 2.2 % zinc for total combined resources in the region.
The upgraded figures included a higher-grade Indicated resource of 12.6Mt at 3% zinc plus lead, at a 1.5% zinc cut-off.
The Indicated primary zinc grade increased from 1.7% to 2.37% - a 20% increase, at a 1 % zinc cut-off.
Burton said that that because of the style of mineralisation and the presence of very fine grained zinc (sphalerite) some loss of zinc during the drilling process was recorded and has very likely contributed to potentially lower grades than may actually be present.
Large bulk sampling would help alleviate this issue.
He said the company will commence a scoping study for Sandy Creek and conduct further exploration drilling at the Browns prospect to define the extent of the mineralisation discovered in 2009 with a view to defining a resource at Browns by the end of 2010.
