Friday's most followed including Twitter, Condor Gold, Lamprell and Merlin Entertainments

Web browsers continue to flock to Twitter news after the group's huge market debut in New York on Thursday.

The firm's shares soared like a bird after the bell and went from US$26 to $44.90, valuing the company at an eye-watering $31 billion.

The company is likely to be in focus for many more days yet and news of the float was one of the most followed on Google Finance on Friday.

Also in focus as the trading week draws to a close was a rather smaller outfit, namely gold explorer Condor Gold (LON:CNR), whose statement today was one of the most-read stock exchange statements.

The firm's latest resource estimate, announced today, sees an increase in the amount of gold in the higher confidence indicated category as well as an expansion of the open-pit portion of its La India project in Nicaragua.

The data was compiled from 14,000 metres of infill drilling by SRK Consulting to give an NI 43-101-compliant 2.37mln ounces.

Oil rig builder Lamprell (LON:LAM) was also piquing interest as it reached a milestone - namely the delivery of two jack-up rigs to a client in the Caspian Sea

"The project has been highly complex as a result of the new approach for delivery, with modular fabrication, assembly and disassembly being undertaken in the Group's Hamriyah facility, transfer to the Caspian Sea region and then re-assembly in a yard in Astrakhan," said James Moffat, chief executive of Lamprell.

Shares dipped 1.40% to stand at 159p.

The biggest riser on Footsie was International Consolidated Airlines Group (LON:IAG), which added 6.13%, after it reported a jump in profits.

Operating profits soared by 156% to €693mln as passsenger revenues jumped by more than 10% and were allied to a 3% fall in the group’s fuel costs. Non-fuel costs also fell over the period.

Going forward, IAG expects an operating profit for 2013 before exceptional items of around €740mln

Motive Televsion (LON:MTV) was the most activelky traded share, with over 276.43mln changing hands.

Also in focus today was Merlin Entertainments (LON:MERL) as the Madame Tussauds and Legoland group’s stock soared on debut.

The company floated on the stock market this morning at 315p a share, towards the upper end of its price range of 280p to 330p, valuing the group, which also owns Thorpe Park and Alton Towers, at £3.2bn.

But already the company is worth £340mln more than that amount, having risen to 348p a share in early trade.
