Ithaca Energy against addition of new board members

North Sea focused oil and gas firm Ithaca Energy (LON:IAE, TSE:IAE) said its board is not in favour of adding two new directors.

JEC Capital Partners, JEC II Associates and Anthion Master Fund have issued a requisition to call a shareholder meeting to add the two, neither of whom have industry experience, said Ithaca.

"Ithaca has formal corporate governance procedures in place for assessing the composition of the board and for appointing new directors to the board.

"As such, the board does not support the proposal put to the company by the two shareholders and does not consider it to be in the best interests of all of its shareholders," it said in a brief statement.

Ithaca shares fell 1.68% to stand at 131.50p.
