Robust Resources (ASX: ROL) has two large multi-commodity projects in Indonesia on Romang Island, both concentrated on volcanic centres. Robust is exploring prospective ground previously owned by Billiton during the 1990s, and the Ashton Mining Group using owner-operated drilling rigs.
Lakuwahi, in the south of Romang, has near-surface gold and silver, while a significant poly metallic base metal discovery also exists with thick intersections of economic base metals underlying the gold and silver deposit. At the North Romang Project, initial exploration has demonstrated a porphyry system with a focus on gold and silver.
Robust Resources appoints ex-BHP Billiton Indonesia President Director
Indonesian-based gold and base metal explorer Robust Resources (ASX: ROL) has strenthened the company's board with the appointment of former BHP Billiton Indonesia President Director Andrew James Wilson as Non-Executive Director to the Board.
Robust Managing Director Gary Lewis said the Board was keen to further strengthen its Indonesian expertise and contact base, with the continued success of our Romang Island drilling programme.
"Andrew, who is fluent in Indonesian and has been working in the region for many years, brings to Robust a depth of experience working within the Indonesian resources and mining sector that will deliver significant value to shareholders during this next growth phase," Mr Lewis said.
Mr Wilson, who started at Robust on January 4, was President Director of BHP Billiton Indonesia based in Jakarta from 2000 to 2008 and was also a Director of the Indonesian Mining Association.
He received a certificate of thanks from Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono for his efforts in coordinating BHP Billiton volunteers from Australia to help post tsunami Aceh.
Mr Wilson has a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) from the University of NSW, a Masters of Law from the University of Sydney, and has been a member of the Law Society of NSW since 1986.
He commenced his legal career at Allens Arthur Robinson before becoming the Legal Manager and Company Secretary at BHP Engineering Group, where he undertook various commercial and risk management roles.
As Robust’s activities in Indonesia grow, Mr Lewis said Mr Wilson would assist with coverage of legal and project risk mitigation, government relations and sound corporate.
"We believe his in-country experience is unique and will prove invaluable to Robust and its shareholders and we welcome him to the board," Mr Lewis said.
He is also a director of Herald Resources Ltd and Chairman of Lifestart, a charity assisting children with disabilities.
