Telit Communications expands GSM/GPS offering with new module
Telit Wireless Solutions, a subsidiary of Telit Communications PLC (AIM: TCM) has expanded its portfolio of integrated GSM/GPS products with the launch its first standalone GPS module and its smallest product, SE867-AGPS, which is suitable for use in telematics and fleet management solutions, PDAs (personal digital assistants) or security applications.
The company said the module was a cost-effective solution for active antennas, offering flexibility for GPS applications with low integration costs, which was provided by a compact size of just 18 x 18 x 3.5 millimetres and a two layer host PCB (printed circuit board) design.
The module operates in a wide temperature range and is equipped with an energy saving baseband processor, making it suitable for integration in high-volume GPS applications and mobile data devices where module size and low power consumption are the critical factors.
“The GPS market is a commoditised market on which price is the most differentiating factor among the competitors. Therefore we decided to expand our product portfolio with a particularly cost-effective module...with this innovative module and the most comprehensive distribution channel in the M2M market, I am convinced that we will be able to strengthen our position on the GPS market,” said chief executive Oozi Cats.
