Aura Energy (ASX: AEE) is a uranium explorer with advanced projects in Sweden, West Africa and Australia. The company is focusing on two main projects: the Storsjön Project located in Sweden’s Alum Shale Province, one of the largest depositories of uranium in the world; and the highly prospective Reguibat Project in Mauritania.
Aura Energy’s main projects in Sweden are based on the Alum Shales, which have been historically known as one of the largest depositories of uranium in the world. Aura Energy has exploration permits and applications in three regions in west Africa: the Reguibat Craton in Mauritania, the Mauritanide Fold belt in Mauritania, and the Tim Mersoi Basin in Niger.
Aura lifts Swedish Uranium target to 3 Billion tonnes
Aura Energy (ASX:AEE) has recently announced the intersections of substantial thicknesses of mineralised Alum Shale in its Häggån and Marby in the Storsjön Project in central Sweden. The Company is actively exploring its Storsjön Project (100%) in Sweden.
These positive results have caused the company to increase its target size for the Project to 1 billion to 3 billion tonnes of Alum Shale at a grade range of 150 to 180 ppm U3O8.
These licence areas are located in close vicinity to Continental Precious Metals’ (TSX:CZQ) Viken Project that contains 443Mlbs U3O8. The Company has a major presence in Sweden’s Alum Shale Province, one of the largest deposits of uranium in the world.
Aura recently signed a Heads of Agreement with Sino King Enterprise Investment Ltd for the Storsjön Project potentially worth $460 million. Aura’s terms of contract with Sino King require the company to identify 1.0 billion tones of Alum Shale with an average grade of 160ppm U3O8 or higher.
Aura has cautioned "that the potential quantity and grade of the target is conceptual in nature and there has been insufficient exploration to define a mineral resource and it is uncertain if further exploration will result in the determination of a Mineral Resource."
