Red Rock Resources (LON:RRR) this afternoon revealed quarterly production figures from its Colombian gold mining operation.
Mined ore increased by 27 per cent to 5,397 tonnes in the three months ended December 31, and processed ore was up 12 per cent to 5,055 tonnes. Recovered grades were down from 9.6 to 8.7 grams per tonne.
Gold sales were up slightly, rising by 1.5 per cent to 1,425 ounces.
Red Rock says that infrastructure and machinery upgrades will continue during the current quarter, as well as the group’s exploration efforts.
The group’s interests in Colombia accrue through its 50.5 per cent stake in Colombian gold miner Mineras Four Points SA, which in turn has rights over two gold mines in Antioquia, El Limon and El Mango.
Last month Red Rock unveiled in-house estimates of minable material at the El Limon gold mine in Colombia.
The estimate of potentially mineable material was based on recent level mapping and sampling at El Limon. This material is in two areas, one between levels 6 and 7, which is fully developed and is the main source of current production, and a new development area south of the main production shaft on Level 6 South.
The two blocks has been estimated to potentially contain 29,000 to 35,000 tonnes of in situ mineralised material remaining.
The company hopes that exploration and development planned over the next six months will define ore extensions to allow as much as a further 18 months of operations.
