Greenearth Energy: Lighting technology comes within energy efficiency funding scope

Greenearth Energy (ASX: GER) stands to benefit from a $1 billion energy efficiency funding program, with confirmation that the company’s activities will fall within the scope of the program.

The Clean Technology Investment Program, announced in February by Minister for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency Greg Combet, will provide grants to help manufacturers buy new plant and equipment to cut their energy costs or reduce carbon pollution.

It has now been announced that the program will include smart energy projects such as upgrading street lighting.

Greenearth and its Israeli technology partner Metrolight provide energy efficient smart lighting technology that is poised to assist industry and communities to deliver energy and cost savings.

Metrolight can deliver street lighting solutions that deliver cost savings of more than 60% as well as reducing ongoing maintenance costs and carbon dioxide emissions.

Greenearth managing director Mark Miller today congratulated the Australian Government on the program.

“We believe programs such as the Clean Technology Investment Program, coupled with our Metrolight energy efficiency technology solutions, has the potential to drive substantial energy savings, reductions in maintenance costs and better environmental outcomes,” Miller said.

"Our aim is to work with government, industry, local councils and communities alike to deliver energy efficiency solutions that have the potential to substantially offset rising energy costs in an environmentally friendly manner."
