Drake Resources identifies elevated gold readings in West African exploration

Drake Resources (ASX: DRK) has confirmed elevated gold readings up to 8 kilometres in length at the company’s Tasiast South Project in Mauritania, West Africa.

The discovery comes from initial assays from a 17,000 metre air core drilling program at Tasiast. Further assays from the drilling program are pending.

Several anomalous gold zones have been identified from widespaced traverses, with the anomalies extending from the Tasiast and Tijirit greenstone belts into the Drake permits.

Gold values of up to 3 grams per tonne (g/t) gold have been returned from individual 1 metre air core samples.

A program of infill air core drilling is underway to define the extent of the anomalies, along with a  minimum of 5,000 metres of reverse circulation drilling on key targets.
