Marenica Energy's (ASX: MEY) principal asset is the Marenica Uranium Project located in the uranium rich Damara Province in Namibia.
The project covers 527sq km, with high prospectivity for both secondary and primary uranium deposits. Marenica Energy's strategy is to focus on the evaluation of the Marenica Project as well as to identify and acquire other uranium opportunities globally.
Marenica Energy (ASX: MEY) has appointed Murray Hill to the role of chief executive officer, to lead the company as it develops the Marenica uranium deposit in Namibia.
Hill has 27 years of experience in the mining industry in a range of roles, including senior process engineer for an engineering group and managing a metallurgical testwork laboratory.
Over the past 18 months he has provided metallurgical consulting services for Marenica and is a member of the company’s Technical Steering Committee.
In his new role, Hill will lead a metallurgical drive to assess the potential to upgrade ore from the Marenica uranium deposit. This drive aims to assess whether the resource is amenable to low capital and operating cost processes, including scrubbing, screening, de-sliming and gravity separation.
Distinctive metallurgical characteristics identified at the Marenica deposit could provide an opportunity to concentrate the uranium and increase the value of the resource.
