Alexium International Group (ASX: AJX) was founded to commercialise a reactive surface treatment process originally developed by the U.S. Air Force. The company acquired the technology from the U.S. Department of Defense to produce solutions for commercial and military customers.
Alexium International Group (ASX: AJX, AX: AJX, OTC QX: AXXIY) has undergone a board and leadership restructure as it moves into the commercial licensing phase of its patented reactive surface technology.
Non-executive chairman Gavin Rezos will move into the new role of executive chairman and president.
Rezos will spend more time in the U.S. and Europe overseeing the operational and commercial parts of the business and Alexium’s network overseas.
Alexium is using its RST technology – a "green" process that can apply durable nanoscopic polymeric coatings to numerous materials – to develop a fire retardant nylon treatment.
The company is accelerating commercial licensing with larger demonstration runs of the technology.
Alexium’s fire retardant nylon treatment could generate high profit margins for the company with strong demand from the U.S. military and commercial customers in the U.S. and overseas.
The company is aiming to address demand from the U.S. military, which currently has 1.4 million soldiers serving on active duty and 800,000 soldiers on reserve duty, as well as commercial customers in the U.S. and abroad.
Alexium anticipates a combined market demand of at least 4 million linear yards per year.
