Breakaway Resources drilling shows potential to expand copper gold prospect
Wednesday, January 04, 2012 by Christine Feary
Breakaway Resources (ASX: BRW) has intersected mineralised zones in all three diamond drill holes at the company’s Sandy Creek copper gold prospect, part of the Eloise Exploration Project in Queensland.
Results from the latest round of drilling reinforce the potential for extensions to the existing mineralisation. More will be known once the assays are received, with the first results expected in mid to late January.
The recently completed drilling program was designed to test the down-dip potential of the prospect.

Each of the three diamond drill holes intersected zones of shear-hosted quartz veining and disseminated and vein-hosted copper sulphide mineralisation ranging in width from 0.3 metres to 15 metres.
In addition, one hole intersected a new shallow 16 metre zone of shear-hosted quartz veining and brecciation, strongly disseminated and vein-hosted copper sulphide mineralisation.
This discovery lies 100 metres west of the existing mineralisation, with speculation that it could represent a separate parallel zone of copper-gold mineralisation.
Two deeper zones intersected in a different drill hole showed carbonate veining, biotite alteration and copper sulphide mineralisation immediately east of the main mineralised zone.
Previous reverse circulation drilling at Sandy Creek has identified continuous high grade copper-gold mineralisation, with drill intercepts up to 6.23% copper over 600 metres strike and 120 metres depth.
Mineralisation remains open down dip and along strike.
